What makes this so much harder than it needs to be is the way the notes are displayed. Couldn't a simple vertical note arrangement like Guitar Hero/Rock Band have worked? That way telling which key(s) I was supposed to press would be so much easier, because the way it is now I get confused and I can barely last a minute into the song. It's got a good concept, and I like the music and visuals, but the execution of the rhythm mechanic is flawed.
The game left a good impression! But it was a little bit hard.
Nice work, rhythm games are always fun! I felt the difficulty curve was a bit off though. The beginning is really really hard when you first start, and then there's a long slow bit immediately after that's trivially easy. Overall good work!
This was due to how the composer mixed the song. We have already discussed it and agree completely that it starts too hard. The end bit was also going to be a lot harder but it became almost impossible to play. Thanks!
Nice art!
Controls were a bit difficult but thats obviously because of the theme.
Overall a nice game!
Game freezes on the gameover screen, despite not getting far in the level, it still takes forever for the score to finish doing it's thing.
Having feedback when timing the note right would be really helpful. I couldn't tell if the game notes were misaligned (might be a hardware issue) or if I was off by a bit.
The controls are solid! The notes are hard to distinguish from each other. It might feel more natural if the notes/key artwork were more varied? Or, have two separate tracks for left and right side? or just 4 separate tracks entirely would add visual clarity.
Thanks for playing it!
In regards to the game freeze and the score, they were both implemented late so I didn't have time to polish it. The amount of time that the score takes to tick up can be adjusted so I'll shorten that when I can reupload.
The feedback for the note we were going to have a sound effect but time restraints. I also wanted to add indicators for how good your hit was above the hit marker. Poor, Good, Great, Excellent, and Perfect. In terms of the misaligned gamenotes, I have a sync feature but didn't have time to put it in an options menu.
The notes also were more of a last minute thing and I'll probably change it to a multi-track system. The problem I had with the multitrack was how much space it would take up but that can be remedied by making the notes themselves smaller.
Thanks for all of the feedback!
