The idea of switching into the role of a cashier is good, having to find the barcodes for sure isn't some daily task for most of us! The checkerboard tiling of the floor however is really confusing. Are you supposed to serve more than one customer? For us the game always stopped after finishing serving the first one.
Cute game, congratulations for your first jam!
However, I have two suggestions for the game. First, adding a menu. This way, game doesn't initialize inmediately and player can process a bit more what is happening. Second, It's nice when players have the controls written down in the main menu, so they don't have to come back to the itch.io page to know how to play properly.
Nice work, glad you liked your first jam experience and I hope i see you in future GMTK jams!
Hmm for some reason my player kept moving to the right when I wasnt pressing anything. Couldnt figure out how to play and I kept dropping what I was holding for some reason.
Hmm, I couldn't quite figure out how to interact with the items I picked up. If you tell me, I'll replay. This is very cute and seems like a fun game.
You pick up the items from the spawnroom with: E, Space or enter and then you deliver these to the right shelf to ean money to then be able to pay in the checkout
