How does your game fit the theme?
Our rendition of the theme involves taking on the perspective of the Hollow Knight as he traverses through the "Radiant Crossroads" in an effort to infect the inhabitants of Hallownest. He must face a nameless ghost to decide the fate that started an age ago with the rise and fall of bugs and beasts. After all, both were born of God and Void.

I'm pretty sure that this isn't a valid submission? Copying an existing IP and assets from it (even if they are traced or something, as opposed to direct sprite rips) is a form of plagiarism, and while Team Cherry gives a blanket "Approval" for using their assets in some situations, I don't believe that this is covered; and the rules of the Game Jam state that you must use assets that you own and/or have permission to use.

Anyway, that aside, the game was interesting. The floatyness was weird, but that's alright. And the lack of player-feedback from combat was strange, but at least you could see enemies disappear. I did get pretty confused as to what the "end" was though, as it seemed like I was either "beating the level" or "instantly dying" and I couldn't tell which lol

Hey I am one of the guys who made this. Thanks for giving the game a try, we honestly had around 22 hours to make this from the ground up and really appreciate the feedback!.
As for the assets, none of it was ripped or copied, I drew and animated them myself; Yes they are based on the Hollow Knight game and characters but they weren't ripped. Upon seeing the theme,  the idea of reversing Hollow Knight, as The Hollow Knight, was something we loved and just wanted to make it. Our goal was not to 'plagiarize' but to simply make something for fun and in a way pay homage to the great game. 
As for it being valid submission, it is honestly up to the organizers of the jam. There are many submissions that has reversed an existing game and they have all been incredibly creative and fun. At the end of the day if the organizers invalidate this then oh well, in the little time we had to make this, we had fun with it. 
The game mechanics definitely need some work to it. We are planning on  completing it, fixing the bugs and add some additional features to create this into a standalone fan game.

P.S: I did have to recreate the art as I used skeletal animations to animate, but I am quite happy that you think its good enough to have been copied straight from the game hahah.

I really loved idea and graphics, but it would need some combat feedback. As it is now you can't really tell if your actions are having any effect

Art captures the Hollow Knight atmosphere for sure.

Now the gameplay feels floaty, jumps don't carry much weight you need to increase the gravity, slope walking could do some work (I struggled with this in Unity) you need to make a script to push the player towards the slope when he's on one so you eliminate bounciness. The Knight from Hollow Knight seems impossible to defeat, I don't have any options of countering his attacks so to hit him I need to take damage. You should also consider adding white flash on enemies you damage them, there needs to be some kind of an indicator.

Would be a ton better if there was sound and music.

I think you're missing a collider in one spot.

Now you could make improvements to this game but this isn't your IP, I would recommend you to make your own IP with this mechanic of plaguing a civilisation and making it fall where you are the villain in that story.

So basically this game but re-skin the NPCs and the player's character.

This is if you plan to finish and release them, of course it's totally OK to just make a Hollow Knight fan game, it's up to you.

Heyy, thank you so much for the feedback! We are huge fans of Hollow Knight and just wanted to make a game from the other perspective. We had very little time to make this and yes the gameplay mechanic definitely needs a lot of work, and we are already in the process of fixing the bugs and the feel of the game. Reskinning the characters is definitely something we can do, and we have plans of doing it!.

Saw this Hollow Knight themed game and just had to try it! I really like the idea of infecting all the bugs as The Hollow Knight! Wish there was some music and sound effects since those can go a long way. Very nice overall, I enjoyed moving around playing as a different character than normal!
