The Cop and Robber are helping each other escape prison, reversing their normal roles. Eventually, they can swap positions to "reverse" their usual roles of the actual game.

Nice job!  The controls felt a little weird, mostly with the layout.  I kept hitting shift to dash but swapped instead, and then forgot that the mouse button did anything pretty quick.  You could try consolidating them to the keyboard more instead, but that could also just be a me issue.  Otherwise youve got some fun mechanics and good puzzles, you could polish it up post jam and have a nice little puzzle game!

Thanks for the feedback! I think the problem with putting everything to keyboard is that aiming would then become more frustrating. Honestly with the number of keybinds, it’s pretty difficult to map them well. I think the main problem with controls is players only get about 5-10 minutes to get used to them, but with more time I think controls usually become easy to handle. Hopefully the experience wasn’t too hindered by them though!

You know idk how I forgot about the shooting aspect, that makes much more sense. Yeah getting keybinds right can be a pain, especially with such little time. My experience wasn't really hindered at all, just had to get used to it, so honestly it's probably an issue with me lol

This was so good! I really liked all the puzzle elements and they worked well together! The swapping also really brought the theme home!

Nice puzzles! Each level had its own original idea, and was satisfying to solve. Switching between the two characters sometime felt laborious, maybe because the button for interacting and swapping are "close" to each other (they use the same finger), it was easy to mix them up.  Also while the music lacked a bit of energy, for a jail-break!^^ But it was still nice to play overall.

Yeah mapping keybinds is hard haha. With three of the fingers already being used to move it's difficult to figure out a good way map 3 additional buttons. But seeing as the game doesn't really require quick decisions, I hope they weren't too bad!

Regarding the music, I agree it doesn't really fit the premise. Kinda wanted a less energic tune since these are puzzles and puzzles require at least a little bit of thinking, so a less energetic song seemed to fit. We could definitely try to find a better balance between the two though. We appreciate your feedback!

Fantastic game from start to finish. Cute theme-level idea with an inside job prison break. Great puzzles forming from the two asynchronous characters: really well thought out levels. Only minor complaint is that the only minorly "soft-lock" able spot was on the last level with that cop-side yellow button (from what I found). Obviously that's why there's the reset button, so functionally that very fine, but I was impressed with the previous levels letting you experiment without getting you in a stuck-able situation. Feel like the yellow button place could just be a little higher (enough for prisoner to jump but not cop, even) and it wouldn't change the game design while avoiding needing an R press. Regardless, I'm genuinely just nit-picking because of the fact this game is so crazily well done and creative for such a short jam: great job.

Thanks! Yeah the yellow button was intended to trap the player so that they had to restart, but I agree it doesn't change the game design much.

Great game, was fun to play and I would love an updated version of this with all the criticism of the other comments applied! I have nothing to add. I wish good luck on this jam and hopefully I can see more from you in the future!

Wow, what an incredible submission! The depth of mechanics and number and quality of levels is amazing for a game jam. I see you've already gotten some constructive criticism, so here are some nitpicks that others didn't mention. 

I don't know if this would "give away" the puzzle, but it would be clearer if the platforms/lasers were color coordinated with the buttons that activated them. Also, a laser or something to kill you below the yellow button in the last level would make it clear that you weren't supposed to go down there - I got stuck there for a while before realizing I could restart. 

Again, these are nitpicks - I had a blast playing this! Perfect for the theme, super fun game!

Thanks a lot! Yeah with the color coordination I kinda wanted players to get stuck and try to remember what each button did. For example, there's a time when you must press a red button on the ceiling that not only lifts the player up on the other side, but activates a laser. I wanted them to realize that they had to press that button a second time to deactivate the laser. I do agree with the last level. I probably should have made it more clear that going down there is not the right choice haha! I appreciate the feedback!

While I did not complete the game, I can tell that a lot of effort is put creating levels and thinking of different ways to utilize the same mechanics.

Here are some feedback that I would like to give:
- Abilities are almost always given at the start of the game. This kind of makes it redundant to collect it at the beginning of the level.
- The swap ability essentially just gives access to both character's ability at all times, which is the same as giving the robber a gun and making the cop more agile. More variety of levels can be created if you 'lock' the players during certain parts (e.g. the cop must stay on the button for it to activate)
- Might be just me, but there are too many buttons required for the controls. I think that having movement keys + 2 secondary keys is the limit of what I can comfortably control.

Hope I'm not being too harsh here. I like how the screen automatically swaps when you press a button, and that the tutorial is nicely integrated into the game, with nice button prompts. Great job on the jam!

Thanks for the feedback. I agree in most cases the collectable ability is pretty redundant, but there are cases when I wanted to force the player to move somewhere or do something before receiving those abilities. However, I wasn't able to accomplish this fully, so definitely would consider that. I agree that the swap ability is pretty powerful and I was considering to limit the number of swaps allowed but I decided not to. Locking the player is definitely something to consider.

And with controls, yes many have said they can get pretty confusing which I understand, but seeing as the game isn't time-based, hopefully it wasn't too much trouble! Again, thanks for the helpful suggestions and thanks for playing!

I don't think cops should help robbers escape prison... or at least I hope they don't!

Very nice puzzle platformer, it catched my intrest due to similarity with my game as I also have a cop/guard and thief situation, the gameplay delivered. I got a little stuck on the second-to-last level but after restarting I finally beat it. It is impressive that there are a lot of levels and many mechanics introduced through out so the game doesn't feel boring and has a decent runtime for a jam game. 

Although I was a little bit sceptic about the introduction of the mouse, I must say it was ok and actually I much prefer aiming with mouse than if I would have to do it with keyboard. The controls are in general very nice and the characters move very smoothly. The introduction of shifting the characters was a great addition.

One thing that could be expanded, to be honest on the last level for a while I thought that the robber will be able to squeeze through a tight hole because he is skinnier than the cop, but I think the hitboxes are actually the same. It would be a great touch and an interesting idea to throw into the mix.

Glad you liked it! Thats actually a really great idea. I think the hitbox for the robber is slightly smaller but not by a significant amount, so this would actually be a really cool way to utilize his smaller size. Thanks for the suggestion and thanks for playing!

Great take on the coop puzzle platformer. On some of the later levels I would have liked to have a minimap. After getting the swap I forgot about the other version of the level and got stuck for a while lol

Thanks! My intention was for the puzzles to be easily accessible by being able to switch back and forth between screens easily. I wanted players to be able to create a better understanding of the layout in their head  so that they could make informed decisions and think about how to go about the puzzle. Anyway, I hope you still liked it!

Cool puzzle platformer. I liked the theme. The controls are a bit hard to handle, not sure if the mouse was a good idée...

Yeah when playtesting some people had problems with the  controls. I tried to match the control letter with what it actually does but it's difficult having so many. I also needed a way for the player to aim, so I thought the mouse was the easiest and most intuitive way. And since shoot and dash come into the game at the same time, I just put the dash on the mouse as well. I hope you still enjoyed regardless!

I really liked this! A very clever take on the "roles reversed" theme in so many ways! The level design was really clever and well-paced. I especially liked how the mechanics were introduced one at a time to give us time to get used to them. Very cool game! If I could make a suggestion, I'd say to try to make it so we can see both screens at once. Switching between both scenes got a little jarring a times and I'd often forget what puzzle does what or which character I left where.

I feel this is a really nice little puzzle game and I can see it develop into something really cool in the future if you were to continue this. Solid stuff!

Thanks a lot! I actually intended for the game to be played this way so that players could try to learn how the level works and how the different screens interact! Although I definitely understand where confusion comes from which I guess is the nature of a puzzle game so hopefully it didn't hurt the experience too much!

I'm impressed by the abundance of levels, you took the time to think of interesting mechanics and use them in every possible way! It was really great to feel challenged, jam games are always hard to balance due to the short time we have. But yours truly is well balanced, I had to redo two levels and it was just difficult enough to still have fun yet feel rewarded when finishing them. Good job! The music was also really pretty, even though I wouldn't have imagined such a melancholic melody for a game which concept is absurd and fun (I mean... a robber and a cop helping each other is kinda funny right??) Either way, I'll say it again: loved your game, gg to all the team!

That was a pretty fun experience!

Puzzles are pretty fun to solve, although they were a bit confusing at times. It would definitely help to colorcode doors and lasers to match the buttons that activate them.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed my time here!

Glad you enjoyed it! The intention was that players would figure out which buttons do what and would have to create a mental image of how they interact with the opposite screen. Hopefully it didn't get too confusing there with the lasers!
