Love the art style! Laughed out loud at his crouch!

Really enjoyed the game mechanics and the variety of axe uses, very well thought out! Would be nice to have checkpoints or be able to pick up items that heal you.

I like the idea and mechanics! Fun game.

don't get deceived by the MS paint art, this game has some very cool god of war like axe throwing mechanics. It is so cool!

Interesting game! Nice take on the theme, good mechanics. Music gets repetitive pretty fast as the loop is quite short. An option to turn that off would have been welcome!

The axe mechanic is also fairly novel, I haven't seen anything quite like it before. I like how you can only double jump when not carrying the axe, and that you can retrieve it from wherever it ends up quickly. I also like how flexible it is - you can throw it downwards from a jump to make a springboard. You can throw it diagonally up to kill enemies above you etc.

I didn't like going all the way back to the start when I died however, and I gave up after falling to the start area from a tricky tall platform above it. I was wondering if checkpoints would have helped, but I can tell you're trying to ape Getting Over It with it's non-failure failure modes! You just lose a load of progress. It mostly works in that game, but I'm not so sure about a games jam where nobody is as invested in getting to the top.

I'm probably too old to be able to play this well. I couldn't get used to the controls enough to react to the twitchy movement, although it is very well done. It's just not for me, but that doesn't harm my rating of it. Overall, great effort!

I was considering adding checkpoints (and there was some progress made on that) but couldn’t due to time constrains. Also fair point about the music. It’s the simplest of features I can never forgive myself for adding lol

Criticism appreciated. Thanks for playing :)

I wasn't even aware that the word 'scale' had so many different definitions lol. Hilarious game with lots of personality and surprisingly fluid & fun gameplay. Giving budget Pizza Tower vibes (/pos).

Glad you enjoyed my game! Thanks for playing! :)

I was originally gonna try to cram even more definitions of "scale" into the game but couldn't due to time constraints. Here are two of my favorite ideas that sadly got the axe:

  • Scale Singer, an enemy that would sing a scale and then shout the last note so loud that he creates a sonic shockwave that increases in size
  • Balance scales that would act as springs (would add on to the axe mechanic a little)

Had a lot of fun with this game! The art style and jokes are great and reminded me of Pizza Tower or even the Big Lez Show. Congratulations!
