Cute little platformer, with a well crafted difficulty curve! Go Allies!

Developer

Thank you! :)

It's a neat platformer, and I also liked that you have implemented options/settings.

I suggest trying these platformer techniques should you make more platformers in the future:

  •  Coyote Time - the player can still jump if they pressed the jump button a few milliseconds too late
  • Input Buffering - if the player pressed jump a few milliseconds too early before they touch the floor, they will still jump once they touch the floor
  • Horizontal Acceleration

Great job on your first game, I hope you make more in the future :)

Developer

Thank you for this detailed feedback! I will definitely look into it in the future :D

The game had a decent look, but many collisions felt off, and sometimes, is_on_floor did not trigger, so a jump was not registered. Polishing the movement will assist.

Thank you for playing! This is our first time making a video game, and your feedback will help us make better ones in the future!

I think the jumping problem comes from the fact that the smaller platforms have diagonal collisions at the end, which I think might have been a mistake in restrospect, because the movement system can't be sure whether the player is on the ground or falling because of that 45 degree angle and settles with falling. I will remember that for next time!

I loved the level design and how it kept getting harder to go up, the game has a lot of potential, i like it

Had a lot of fun climbing to the end. Love the hand-drawn art style, it really blended together nicely to fit the setting. Thanks for including the build to run in the itch sandbox app!

Developer

Thank for playing! It means a lot. Glad you liked the art :)

I like the lore, it's a very cool concept, but it made me rage quit

Developer

Fair enough lol

We wanted to add a whole narrative with some lore and a choice ending, but didn't get the time to implement it, unfortunately. Would definitely do it if we ever try to remake the game with more time :)
