Simple, challenging, and fun!

Good idea, and always fun to see Kenney assert in the wild ;)
Just one improvement I can think of, since there is already a penalty to die (going back) you could have removed the lives count and game over!

Developer(+1)

That was actually the original version of the game, but I noticed  there is a voting category for "enjoyment" so I added a life system and checkpoints. The first version had the penalty of resetting back to the original spawn. I could take lives and game over out and leave check points as a system as well as an alternative option.

Cute game! I want to complain about how I can't stop moving mid-air and that falling off a ledge means jumping off into the distance, but only because I died to it too many times haha!

Great job!

This is like dark souls on steroids, or I have a skill issue. Something that looks very simple yet addicting and fun!

Really fun game! I would love to see the actual platforming mechanics cleaned up a bit, sometimes you clip into floors and the momentum is a bit weird

I really like the music.
the jumping feels a bit weird, as the character doesn't stop moving mid air.
being able to use the arrow keys, or remap the controls would be nice too.
and sometimes I could walk on the second sawblade / I got stuck when I tried to grow in a limitid space by the button.

all in all enjoyed it. works well in wine under linux.

Can you get a screenshot area you could revert in. I tried to set up where you can only grow back up in large zones, make there was a bug somewhere.

sure, sometime after the first flag by growing in this space:

Thanks

That zone was missing the small-only lock, so when you went big, the body was too big to fit in the tiny space; that has been fixed in the post-jam version I'll release

Cute game! love the Alien design! I got softlocked twice, somehow shifting big in a small area and then being unable to shift back, once in the tutorial and once after checkpoint... 3? when I was doing backtracking for buttons. I would recommend providing some sort of indicator for where the spikes will be, as well as having them come up very quickly and then retract slowly, as it can be difficult to time / know where they are if you reach them fast enough to not have seen them retract. I got caught and lost a lot of progress once because I hadn't seen the spikes at all before they got me while barely visible.

All in all, good work! Great job getting this done and submitted in such a short time!

Developer

Can you let me know where you were able to regrow back? I tried to get most of the collision maps setup where it was locked out in the small zones. I could add some indicators on a different layer to be behind the spikes after the jam is over since updates are not allowed.

Developer

The post-jam version that I'll upload will have fixed coding for the small zone and death zones in the tutorial, the checkpoint 2 area where you were able to shift back in a tiny space and soft lock, and there is now a new terrain block over the spikes that of a box with "!" this will be like someone put the spike there. Hence, it is a man-made box in the ground.

Good Job! Interesting mechanic. Gave me an "aha!" moment when I ran through the tutorial.

ITS HARD!, also you can glitch into the floor by spamming shift

Simple and effective, cute visuals, well done!

A simple, yet very fun concept! I really like the art!
