As you said, too bad you could not show what should be going on… Since you say that ‘everything broke’, maybe some version control could have helped you? Saying just in case!
As others have said, the game still looks cute. :)
Just one small remark: I notice the controls are QWERTY-only instead of being layout-independent (I have an AZERTY keyboard)! You may want to watch out for this. ;)
Good luck in making it a full game!
Thanks for you nice review. The version control was the thing that broke it haha, so now we know what to look out for, and thanks for pointing out the keyboard thing, I never thought about different keyboard layouts. 😆
Wow, sorry about this! :o And no way to restore a previous version? I know of a case where someone (a student, for a student project) overwrote the whole history, which is indeed a case where you can lose everything… X)
Can't really figure out what I'm supposed to do. Only thing I can say is that it would make more sense to me if the camera was fixed and not tied to the player. Also makes it easier to differentiate between directions.
Don't search any deeper meaning in this version, as I said in the comments before, every game mechanic broke in the last hour, so that's all it can offer. I will look more into the camera thing, but it is fixed to the player, because later you will be fighting on the board with cards and dice against enemies and you will be collecting those cards probably for final fight, also for every killed enemy you will have points. But sadly nothing from this is in the submitted version
I think the directions issue can also be solved using some UI compass, for example.
As for movement, it should be fine, since rotation is relative instead of absolute (ie pressing D makes the player turn 90° rightwards instead of going East).
I really like graphics and character's moving mechanics! Wish you luck with the full game!
Thanks, I really appreciate it.
Visually nice, but obviously with no real gameplay there's not much else i can say about it
Thanks, Yes, sadly everything broke in last hour and this was our first time making whole game actually, so we wanted to submit it at least working, but we are planning on making it a real game, and I think we found really good concept thanks to this game jam. If you want I will notify you when we progress somewhere.
