A very nice puzzle game. The rolling mechanic used for the barrels is my favourite, you can make some great puzzles with that! No idea how to get through level 7 though :S
Hi! If you like you can message me on discord and I can tell you how to get through it! (I wouldn't want to post spoilers here hehe). I am Imgoinghamm in the godot wild jam discord.
I liked the barrel mechanic as well! It was the first one I wanted implemented haha! Thank you for the review :)
Nice puzzle game! :D I thought the whole idea of the ghost being able to possess objects to control them when being sufficiently close, plus all the behaviours of the items, were both really flavourful and good puzzle material!
My favorite level was level 8, it was challenging in a very interesting way.
In level 9 I was confused at first because I didn't expect one could move through objects, since the ghost doesn't move through walls and gates. Maybe I just didn't notice it before, or maybe that should be made clearer earlier? One could also consider whether preventing the ghost from passing through objects would add an interesting constraint to the game or not.
Hi Silvia! Thank you for the review! Level 8 is definitely my favorite as well, Urodela did a really good job on it :).
When you say the ghost moves through objects, you mean he moves through the objects he can merge into correct? If so, we previously had collisions on those objects but they got annoying sometimes so we change their collision layer. I definitely would like to know if others thought that this would be better to bring back! Thank you for your insight on :)
You can definitely see the wrinkles, but this is a pretty fun puzzle game. The UI was pretty intuitive, although it took me forever to notice you have a limited amount of merging. The visuals are nice. I really like the main character sprite. If you were ever thinking about polishing, I'd try to broaden the pallet with some colour though. Really solid game jam game.
thank you for the nice words :) I would like to add a little bit of color as well. I was planning on adding some casual items (broken desks, wood chairs knocked over, ect) in the game with a little bit of colorful modification added to them but did not get a chance sadly.
Perfect puzzle game that kept me engaged. I gave up at lvl 8. It could use some more juice, but I really liked the transition fx and the sprites.
Level 8 is definitely tricky! We had many ideas for more juice but just ran out of time :( thank you for the sprite complement.
Very well done puzzle game. Levels were pretty easy, last 2 gave me a bit of a hiccup but after figuring out the pattern I finished the whole game. Forgot the name of puzzle type you used with the barrels, but I recognized it quickly so it made it much easier to pass early levels with it. Ability to reset the level also promoted experimentation in how to approach completing the level, which was nice.
Nice! I hope you had fun with every level.
Great call out on promoting experimentation. We wanted to the player to try and try until they understand specific mechanics and how they work together.
Really a cool puzzle game. Control and path finding improvements would be nice quality of life type improvements, but overall a solid game.
Thank you! I will look into that, I have never done path finding so that could be interesting :) @Urodela probably knows how to do it though as I believe he did it in our last game.
Great little game! The mechanic of possessing things to interact and having limited "merges" makes for a great puzzle. Both the animations and the audio look good.
Personally, my biggest issue was with the controls. Being able to move, merge, and interact with the keyboard would have made the game feel much more fluid. This is especially true with the barrel! If you do want to keep the click-to-move mechanic then there should at least be path finding so it doesn't just go in a straight line.
Great suggestion on path finding. We actually put in keyboard controls initially in order to test quicker. But we always wanted to keep the game fully point-and-click based so that the player can slow down and focus on the puzzles.
Very nice! With a couple more levels it could also be a good mobile game perhaps?
Thank you! I think it could be. I've never exported a Godot game to mobile, have you?
I have tried with some smaller test projects and I am quite impressed with how smooth it ran. Not enough experience, but the two takeaways I have so far would be:
On the Godot sub-reddit people are quite regularly sharing mobile games made in Godot. Would recommend you to have a look there if you're interested.
I have to try that then. I feel like rethinking game design for a mobile experience would be a fun new thing.
Wow this is a beauty game, have everythin like me, ghost and puzzles. xD
The levels have a great difficult curve, congrats!
Thanks! Glad you liked the challenge. I hope you found them fun and not frustrating?
Very cool puzzle game! I like how you used the Merge idea in your theme!
Also the Music is cool and matching!
And I love how the ghost looks XD
Thank you for the call outs! In our recent games, @imgoinghamm was our dedicated art and audio guy. It helped a lot having assets that fit the feel of this game.
