This looks good! And I have to say the character sliding is a little bit off, and yeah, the theme is hard to find in the game. Even if some features did not manage to get added before the deadline, you guys still managed to present a good game. Good job guys!
Cool game with a big effort on animations! I really liked the run cycle! It is really strange to see this quality for the character on a really simple background. Maybe you had problem managing your time.
The controls are surprising as the character hasn't air control but slides a lot. I feel like not having air control is really realistic and that's interesting, but sliding feels really arcade and it was a bit strange.
There is some little bugs too. The character can stand-up in tunnels, the music volume option doesn't work and the sound option launches the game.
And I don't see the link with the theme really... Maybe you can explain to me, I am a little curious about it :)
I see you were 3 to make this game and I know everything doesn't go as you wish in teams. I made 3 game jams as artist with family and friends and we often had communication issue that caused time managing problems, so I can understand, but I also know that it is really a cool sensation to work as a team on a game :)
I really wanted to tie the theme into the game in time, but that would require more animations from the adult character which would change the game as it would change perspectives between the two characters when you lose with one. Also yes we could have used more help/time with backgrounds, that would have really helped the presentation.
I really appreciate my team mates work and I think I did pretty good as well. I am grateful that they are hard-working & cooperative. I think my experience in directing a team is definitely needing some work, but I think we all learned some things that can help us in the future.
A solid base for a platforming puzzle style game. I liked the crawling mechanic, and could see there being some interesting level design around jumping and crawling to the right spots.
Thanks! Definitely look forward to the post-jam version then, sounds like you'd like what we're going for.
Game finished :)
I really like main character. Pixel art and animations are very good.
Level design is fine and I haven't noticed any bugs.
My only complain is that I can't use arrow keys to move and need to play everything with left hand.
Thank you for the input!
I will implement both Arrows / Z & X style controls alongside the current WASD / Space & Shift as a temporary fix for v0.5.1a .
I'd like to implement an input setup, but there was no time in the jam unfortunately. I hope this will suffice until we get an input setup implemented.
