We enjoyed this - well done for getting a local coop working smoothly for a game jam! We also liked the floating counters on level 2
I got over 1000 on level one, didn’t dare try doing level 2 solo haha. The gameplay was smooth, it was easy to get into a system, thanks to the ability to put stuff onto a table and reorganize how I wanted to get into that flow state. I was mindlessly going and it was until I started overthinking that I messed myself up, otherwise I probably could have gone indefinitely. Very well done!
oh wow that's a lot but you couldn't go indefinitely because the time between new requests slowly gets shorter and shorter ;) (every request is new request appears 0.25 seconds faster than the last one)
Ah that makes sense, explains why I wasn’t able to go much further.
Got 402! This was a really fun game and I got into the flow state while playing it (similar to overcooked). The graphics style worked well and I enjoyed the polish you put into it (the eyes moving with the direction of movement, the music becoming more intense as the time crept lower). I loved how over time I was able to place the molds/assemblies/tongs where they would be most efficient for a single player (which made it a lot easier when I figured out a good system).
One thing to think about is it's almost impossible to tell what type of ingots you need for a recipe without relying on color (which can be especially difficult since the color changes after quenching). I don't have a really good answer for this, but it's something to keep in mind. Also the tutorial screen layout was kind of intense. Maybe you can have the flow be more together (without considering the spaces in the forge) and add some text for each step?
I'm gonna keep your points in mind for a potential post jam update or my next games. The music that gets more intense is something I knew I wanted from the moment I thought of the idea, I added the eyes mainly for controller players because you might not know exactly which of the 8 directions your joystick gets rounded to, the system of how the game requests certain tools (mainly how the requests look) should have definitely been more thought out and yeah I definitely should have put more effort in the tutorial, for some reason I didn't even think about adding text. Thanks for the feedback!
Managed to get a 168 high score :)
The game is well executed! It was cool slowly discovering things like prepping the dies with molten metal and storing extra metal in the crucibles. Plus it was fun just rearranging the forge layout how I wanted. Is there a way to take a piece out of a form? Each time my run would end because I'd accidentally put a handle in the wrong form and there was no time to fix the mistake.
Also the addition of multiplayer is awesome. This style of game really shines with multiple people and multiplayer support is something you just don't see much of in a game jam.
Only way to take out a piece out of a form is to go take it in the trash, which is on the left (except I forgot to include it in the second level oops) which gets rid of the part but keeps the form in your hand because it's not renewable. Local multiplayer is really easy to setup and the only time I have ever played overcooked was with someone so adding it was a no brainer. Thanks for the feedback!
Hi! How do I combine two forged elements into a single weapon?
Nice concept, follows the theme very well.
You put them both in the weapon forms (which are different than the part forms because they have the entire weapon instead of just one part) like in this video
Thanks! For some reason, the tutorial video did not play on the game page. Nice to know how it works now.
No problem! It's my fault really, I honestly should have put more effort into the tutorial. I'll check out your game once I get home.
