An ambitious game idea with challenging elements ๐ฒ.
GAMEPLAY
The underlying concept of your game is intriguing, but it appears that due to possibly limited time, the execution wasn't fully realized. The absence of a guide for the controls was a notable gap. I stumbled upon features like zooming out with the mouse and generating materials by standing in buildings, but creating new buildings (could not place them) and defeating enemies remained elusive. Addressing these issues could significantly enhance the playability and overall user experience.
ART STYLE / VISUALS
The pixel art graphics are charming and cohesive, creating a unified game world.
AUDIO / SOUND DESIGN
The sound in the menu and at the start set a promising tone, but the absence of ongoing background music and sound effects was noticeable. Incorporating a continuous soundtrack and some sound effects could greatly enrich the gaming experience, adding an extra layer of immersion and engagement.
THEME
Unfortunately, the theme of consequences was not very evident during my gameplay. It would be interesting to see how this could be more prominently incorporated in future iterations of the game.
INNOVATION
Not really a factor here.
In conclusion, this game represents a solid effort for a game jam. With more time and some refinement, there's definite potential in this concept. Keep exploring and polishing your ideas; you're on the right track. Well done on your effort in this jam! ๐๐
The game is fun! The beginning reminded me a lot to Star Tropics. Your idea is solid and functional. With more developing time and polish this game could be great. My only compliant is that I didn't understand how the enemies work, maybe you may add some kind of guide or instructions menu. Good job!
The idea of controlling two characters is cool, but it seems that there was no time to finish the game sadly. There's a cool idea there.
I like the music and the art, but when i interacted with the sign i lost the abillity to move the camera stopping me from progressing :/ When i restarted the camera worked again but i couldn't move the character anymore
The idea is kinda cool and I see the potential, but it appears to be in a rough state still. I can't progress, as placing buildings does not work ๐ค The initial conversation is fun and I'd love to see where the story goes from there
