Historical Accuracy

Narrative video game made in Twine. I chose to work on the death of the Salta general Martín Miguel de Güemes, a hero who was the first governor of his province popularly elected and who repelled almost a dozen Spanish invasions in the independence process of Argentina, my country. His death was tragic because he was attacked in an ambush, his long agony and because he was the only Argentine hero who died within the framework of the Argentine war of independence. I did it by myself, a historian who doesn't know anything about programming but loves making Narrative/Game Design things.

Thematic Relevance

Martín Miguel de Güemes was a hero of Argentine Independence, he repelled 10 royalist invasions, and contributed with his resistance in Salta, his native province in northern Argentina, to give José de San Martín time to cross the Andes to carry out his plan. continental to attack the royalist bastion in Peru passing through Chile and then arriving by sea.

Güemes commanded an army of Gauchos and the Infernales Division, reckless warriors familiar with the terrain of Salta who with just a poncho, a spear, a knife and their horse dealt surprising blows to the Spanish garrisons.

Disclaimers

Awesome to see someone tinkering with the Trine software. I didn't have any real issues running it in the browser, and for the genre, it was an interesting entry.

That said, I think this type of "educational" text adventure doesn't isn't really for me. I think the narration style reminded me a lot of the history textbooks growing up. This may well be exactly what you intended, which I would be interested to know more about.

There were a lot of archived images in this one (I was wondering if you've linked all your sources, and it doesn't look like it in the disclaimers, though you have mentioned that it wasn't drawn by you).

- As a rather visual person, my eyes were always drawn to the choices, more than the descriptions.

In terms of improvement/expansion, something interesting to try and do could be to allow the player to choose whether or not they want to read the Spanish/English version, from the very beginning.

All that said, props for creating such a wonderful entry that had decent branching and translated the events depicted in the game quite well!

A fun little text adventure, well done. I feel like i've learnt something today. The incorporation of archive images was a nice touch.

Thank you very much for playing and commenting. I'm glad you learned something (it was, in part, the idea of the game). I also really appreciate what you said about the images, because I added them for that reason (and I also did it so the game it's not a bunch of text). I wanted to also add sound and music but I didn't know how to do it because it's my first time using Twine.

This was an interesting choice of subject and there were many little historical details that gave it a rich feeling. I feel like I learned a lot. And I appreciate the effort you made to post it in Spanish and English.

I think the reason there haven’t been other ratings yet is that was a bit tricky to figure out how to play it. I normally use the Itch.io app for downloaded games, but the app wouldn’t let me install it. Downloading the .rar, and then opening the html file worked, though. I haven’t used Twine before, but it seems that the html file here should be able to work as an embedded game on itch. I believe it would either have to be uploaded alone or inside a zip archive and renamed index.html? (https://itch.io/docs/creators/html5)

Thank you very much for playing and commenting. I'm glad the game has fulfilled the purpose I gave it: to teach a small part of my country's history. On the other hand, it's the first time I make a game in Twine and upload it to Itchio, the first time I uploaded it I configured it so that it can be played directly in the browser but due to format issues it looked cut off . I apologize for that inconvenience. I will include an explanation on how to download and play until the voting period ends and I can re-upload it. Thanks again
