I know you mention this is more of a proof of concept than a completed game, so I wanted to make sure I pointed out a few things to help you improve for the next version:

  •  when you get the room key from the tub, it's missing a self-switch, so you can get unlimited keys.
  • if you go right in the hallway after coming out of your room, you can enter the middle door in the next section... and still continue to obtain room keys from the tub in there. and then when you exit, you leave from the original room, not the new one.
  • I have to say, the footstep sounds started to get on my nerves after a few minutes.
  • Sometimes when changing facial expressions with your busts, their portrait shifts / moves and it kinda made my brain think my eyes were playing tricks on me.
  • Some of the keys are KEY items, some are not (room 2 key that I got from Gerald, for example)

I think your art direction is really unique and the music you've chosen is lovely (I found the bar music to be especially fitting). I'd be interested to see where you take this beyond the prototype stage -- good luck making improvements and getting closer to complete!

I really like the graphic, portrait and sprites are very well done, as well as the maps.

As already noted there are some graphic bugs, but I think is impossible to fix everything with such limited time, still those bugs don't ruin the game experience.

Unfortunately I must have done something that I shouldn't: I pushed forward the clock by "istinct" and

[SPOILER ALERT]

once the the protagonist starts to bleed and dies, the screen fades to black but I can still hear footsteps, moving around without seeing anything.  :(

[END SPOILER]

Now I'm eager to know what will happens, will surely follow the developmente of this game!

PS: I played the browser version, later I will try the desktop versione to see if was me doing something wrong and get stuck! xD

Ok, so having a deceptively original asset style (the sprites are original), the menus are mostly the default stuff with swords and shields and whatnot so yeah that immersion is broken.

The sound step effects are a bit strange when moving around (this is akin to using the basic default move sound effect). I dunno, gets a bit distracting.

Since you mentioned this game is buggy, I'll keep this fair and say that there's a lot of missing events here and there, a lack of direction, an interesting premise but overall a bit of a slog to go through.

There's a lot of reading in this game and its not necessarily a good thing. Its a bit of a chore. The puzzle aspects are also kinda confusing due to not being able to figure out how to progress through the story. And by the time I've reached 18th hour and got bleeded, I got sent to black screen and the event didn't tint screen it properly or something.

So, this game definitely feels like it could have been ironed out some more, the proof of concept is interesting but a lack of proper direction and actual polish keeps it from garnering my interest any further.

Really amazed by the assets! Love how everything is so detailed and handmade to suit the environment of the story. I personally would have preferred the dialogues to be shorter, reducing the filler content giving more space to the gameplay to make it more entertaining, but overall it was great, can't wait to see future updates!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback!
Sorry you found the dialogue a bit too much! I'd usually act in an editing capacity but  I was held up on event stuff so a lot of the dialogue went in straight from the writer's doc. Hopefully we can fine-tune things a bit in the updates. :)

This game looks like it has a lot of promise! I really loved the character art, and I can see how much love went into writing every character's background and ongoing stories. I ran into a bunch of bugs as you'd expect, but overlooking them, this is definitely a great proof of concept and I'd love to see what you do with it after the jam ends. :D

Thank you very much for giving us such detailed feedback, with even a video attached.  Apart from the bugs thanks to you we could see that it was obviously not so intuitive that the corridor continued to the right (and therefore it was difficult for the player to discover the other rooms).  So, thank you very much!

Ohhh whoops, that explains a lot hahah! I might try and give the game another go after I review a couple others, and I'll see about that corridor I missed :D

Kudos to the whole team. It was nice to see some well-crafted assets and the story seems very fascinating especially due to the cast of characters, each with their own unique personality. Sadly, as described at the start, the game appears to have some missing parts, and I am sorry that this affects a bit the evaluation. Looking forward to see future updates!

It is a pleasure for me to know that you commented on a game I took part in (I'm Italian and I follow you).  I have only dealt in making the assets, but I know there were some problems during the realization that we hope to solve later.  Thanks for the feedback!

I loved the assets! So much details going along perfectly with the story. I loved playing this game! Keep it up :)

Oow, thank you!

I love how detailed your storyline is.

Thank you! Several of us on the team are writers, either a hobby or as work, so we like to lean pretty hard on the narrative side.

Good effort! Needs some polish still, but a lot of good concepts. Here's a first impression video if you want further comments: https://youtu.be/9B0oTw-x41Y

Thank you so much!
Time got away from us so the current build is indeed SUPER broken, but I'm glad you enjoyed the ideas. Hoping to have a fixed-up version out after the judging had finished. :)
