Really well executed idea with amazing art, great soundtracks and story.

I am pleasantly surprised with how many well thought out interactable elements there were which really helped add to my immersion. The unique page turning animation was one of my favorite with how life-like it felt. I also really liked the detailed environment in the world of Everbloom.

However, one of my biggest gripes is the UI. While most of the items found in the game are intuitive, it would not be a bad idea to add name tags and be more pronounced whether a object is interactable or not.

Overall, I can really feel you guys used your time effectively in crafting this game and I hope you improve upon it in the future.

Edit: PS: the zombie hitting sound sounds like they're bodyslamming you.

Developer

That zombie body slam comment made me lol irl. I was imagining a zombie Pokemon battle style scenario.... 🤔🤔🤔

Thanks for the review! I was thinking that maybe we could have something pop up above the head when we get close to something... not confirmed yet though.

Developer

very good game :D

Really nice art and an interesting story!  Dodging the zombies was a bit difficult, especially that second one 💦
Overall it was really nice and I hope to see more in the future!

Now that I've finished the game, I can honestly say it was one of the best indie games I've played in the longest while!!! The concept, music, the art style, everything was so incredibly done for an indie game. I'd definitely recommend this to my friends and I really hope that I get to see more of this type of content in the future!!! Amazing work to you all! If this were to go even bigger I'd love to see this as an app, so I can play it in the comfort of my own phone! A few things I'd like to say is that if this game were to be improved and polished a bit better, I'd say to definitely work on a possible longer story line, as well as the movement and flow of the character! And definitely try to work on the interactions a bit more, it was a bit confusing at first, but I figured out that I should have been pressing and clicking on certain things for the story to progress/move on, and for the character to talk/interact. Other than that, it was superb and an absolutely fantastic game to play! I hope to see more of this in the future!

Developer

HHHH "BEST INDIE GAME" I'm thrilled you liked it so much!!

We would love to expand this into a full game given the right resources and time, and polish up the mechanics for future release! I'm actually currently working on developing their characters further with Q&As and interactions so their characters will be more in depth in the full game as well~

Thank u so much for supporting us!! :D

Love the story, 10/10 graphics, smooth gameplay

Not gonna lie, Everbloom is the best right now

nice game wish it was longer cant wait to see what these guys will make in the future!

It's reallllyy good, i rly like the art and music, but I'm sad it ends so quicky and aster got infected.. 💦, the zombies...everyone is talking bout it lol, tbh it's kinda challenging to escape but i think the speed is okay? Well idk...

Mmmmm i like the story, it's interesting, it's so original, i wasn't even reading that journal at first lol. 😂

Developer

Omg spoilersss HaHAHA but I’m glad you found the zombo scenes to be fun!! Like you said, there is actually a certain trick to getting past them in one go! The journals are really long yeah, but we’ll definitely integrate all that flavour text into the final game via actual gameplay so it’s more engaging.

Thank you so much for taking the time to play our game and leaving feedback!! ❤️

(Spoilers!) I was really impressed! The music and art - things that I find really important in a game - were both amazing! The story was intriguing, and the zombie parts were actually really fun for me. I've seen a lot of people complaining about the speed, but I actually think it's perfect! Once you learn the path to get around them, it's really not that hard. ^^ It was a really fun, captivating game, in my opinion. I thought everything was perfect, but the only problem I had  was confusion over how to use items? It may have just been a me problem, but for example, I didn't know that you had to click on the fountain to use the stick with it. I knew I was supposed to use the stick to get the key out, but since (I think) the instructions said "double click an item to use it," I was basically just standing in front of the fountain and clicking the key over and over again like an idiot for 5 minutes, lol. That was my only problem though, and like I said, it may have just been me! Overall, I really really reaaalllly enjoyed it. ^^ I'm so glad I found cloudkourin's instagram - and through that, the game!! ^^

Developer

Thanks for taking your time to play our game and I’m thrilled that you love the art, story and music so much!!

I’m so relieved that the zombos didn’t make you rage quit LOLOL but I think maybe giving more running room in those areas would benefit future builds too 🤔. Oh! And it’s not just you... we need to make a lot of changes to our mechanic, and the clarity of instructions is one of them—especially since we only mentioned the double clicking aspect at the beginning hahah.

Not sure how to save the game? how do you save the game?

Developer

We currently do not have a save option since we didn't have time to implement one;;; but this game is meant to be played in one sitting since one session is around 30 minutes! It's definitely something we need to add if we're going to expand on the game in the future :)

o okie!

This game was very fun and challenging! The art style and music was amazing and the storyline spooked me a tad. The zombies were SO fast and kinda frustrating but overall this game was awesome!

Developer

Yeah the zombies frustrated a lot of people ahhh we're really regretting setting the speed so high last minute now... but thank u so much for the feedback!! I hope you look forward to possible later builds of the game <3

The game has good graphic style and aesthetic, but if you ever develop this into something bigger, please make the items distinguishable from the environment.

And then about the control:
1. There should be simpler way to tell players on how to use certain items in their inventories on to stuffs in the character's environment....
2. The zombies. It's kind of frustrating to dodge them, especially in a pretty tight space where you have to maneuver around the corners like mad.

I think these problems above are all the stuffs that -could- break the game engagement for other players.

Other than that. It's good, especially the characters and the dialogues. I say you nail the presentation part of this game nicely.
It certainly has high potential and I would give a newer version or a full version of this one a try once it's out.

Developer

Glad you enjoyed the prototype, despite the issues! Making interactable items more easily recognizable and making the item system more clear were things that we originally were going to add, but ran out of time by the time we had to submit. Improving general playability and game-to-player communication will definitely be our top priorities on what to focus on going forward.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment!

this game was so fun!! the art, music, gameplay - everything is so beautiful! i really enjoyed playing it! Aster and Iris are so cute ugh i love them. The zombies were kind of a pain to deal with but overall, it was really fun! i would play it if it was a real game!

Developer

O NO the zombos... some of our play testers died to even their head pixels haha definitely something we have to fix!! Aster and Iris our bias emo duo :^)  but I'm thrilled you like the game!

This game is absolutely amazing! Throughout the entire time, it gave thrill and excitement. The art is absolutely fantastic and beautiful, the scenery, the animation, and the puzzles really make it all so enjoyable!!

I love how amazing this is, and I heard it was made by not so experienced developers?? This looks like professional work, and I’m glad to have checked it out and made a video on it! The water and the animation was just absolutely the prettiest, the mechanics were easy and pretty much explainable, the steps were absolutely for the powerful mind and for the simple at the same time. The characters were so cute and I instantly fell in love with them! The detail on the background and that pop factor on the items you need to click on, were just gorgeous! The game also had an amazing storyline, and I suggest you play it to see for yourself. The scenes in this game are so great and grand, and a few...surprises as well. I just can’t believe this is a demo and is free! It’s too good to be free!

Developer

I can't wait to watch ur playthrough of it!! This is honestly the sweetest comment I've ever read and I'm so glad u enjoyed the art and the story!! We're faaaaarrr from professionals, especially since this is only the second time our programmers have used unity to make a game LOL we're really hoping that we can make the interface more user friendly and add more polish to our game for the next update!

(+4)

The art in this is phenomenal and fits it so very, very well.

Developer

Thanks Hawk, really enjoyed watching your stream of the game earlier too! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)/

(+2)

AAAAA I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS. The character design, story, background, they're gorgeous and it's only a demo ;w; I'm in love and I hope I can make a gorgeous indie game like this in the future. You did great guys, keep up the good works, I wish you all the best and I hope you'll win this! (owo)b //sorryformybadenglish

Developer

Omg thank u!! ;v; We're really hoping to expand on the character backstories for the next build and make it a more user friendly game!

internally crying cuz im trying to figure out the code still..and i just started sooo lmaoo

Developer

omg which code? :OO

The first start where the closest is locked and there's a lamp on the ground

Developer(+1)

Oh! So u align the numbers according to the middle row (my bad It was supposed to be a rotating lock but i didn't know how to draw it...) and be sure to read the picture book carefully! :D

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

I've been stuck there for like at least 2 days now

I must be really bad at this QAQ

Developer

hahah no it was a mistake on my part making the lock so weird looking;; I hope you manage to get the ending!

(+2)

I'm so impressed I really don't know what to say....this was one of the most beautifully designed indie games I've seen, no joke. And it's only a demo too!qwq. The background was absolutely gorgeous and fit so well with the theme of the game. When i saw the moving water I was so awed I actually had to stop and stare for a few minutes. The writing was amazing as well, I instantly fell in love with Aster in minutes, and I loved the little diary entries too. I also loved the mechanics, but I had a little difficulty with clicking items and puzzles and stuff. The main difficulty was the chase scenes, which felt a little hard due to how the "monster" moved, but other than that it was nothing too bad. Other than that I loved this game, and I really would pay money for a full version if you guys ever felt like making one. It's so so worth it. I don't mean to sound biased but I really hope you win, you guys deserve it so much! Wishing all the best~~

Developer

Wow, thanks for the stellar review! I always cringe when I see people getting rekt by the zombie tbh, we should probably make the zombie slower or the MC faster LOL.

Developer

THANK U SM TvT!!! We struggled so hard with finding the right aesthetic while still keeping the game spook ;v; Thanks for the feedback too!! We made the zombo hitboxes a little too big so it was really frustrating for some people, but it's something for us to change in the future :>

Submitted(+4)

I really love this game. The art is gorgeous and I didn't expect to find some zombies chasing me XD

Most of the puzzles were easy to understand and didn't take much time to figure them out either.
I don't think I have something that greatly bothered me, though of course it could use some polish.

In conlusion, if you ever made this into a full game, I'd definitely play it. (And maybe translate it to other languages as well, I'm sure my mom would totally want to play this XD)

Developer

Thank you so much for the feedback!! I'm really glad you enjoyed it :>

A lot of people got frustrated at the zombos and the puzzles but I'm glad you got through them with minimal frustration haha.

If we were to make it into a full game we would definitely polish this up with better instructions and a longer story!
