Good fun!

  1. Audio is too loud
  2. It would be nice if everything could be controlled by keyboard (closing menus/replay)
Developer

Haha thank you! I do get jump scared by the audio too everytime it starts. Definitely will work on those things. :)

Really nice little experience. While tree fun facts aren't typically what I would expect from treasure chest rewards, it really tied in nicely with your stated purpose of the game. I can see this being a nice interactive way to spread the importance of trees.

I liked the song, I liked the animations and menus as well. I think maybe having some type of indicator for what is required to complete a level would be a great addition, as there were times I would try and finish only to be told I needed to restart for missing one or two small things.

Overall, very nice!

I really liked your game! Looks like I was playing Master System in the early 90’s! Audio - The song you chose by the artist Joshua McLean fits perfectly with your game, you just need to turn the BGM volume down a little. Visuals - The graphics could all be in the same pixel aspect ratio, mainly changing the chests and walls. Interface/Playability - Definitely the game would go much better without having to use the mouse, leaving the fun facts more free, perhaps in an interaction with some keyboard key. But the fun facts are pretty cool (they could just make the text a little smaller too). Main char - The main character could have something from a tree like a branch on his head and a name like “Duckree”. Level Design - The level design has a very nice progression and the last stage was really well done with the possibility of acting on robots. It was a very Sega experience - I loved it! Congratulations!

Thank you so much for your words! :) Super encouraging. And you pointed out some things I didn't know about which is super helpful.

I enjoyed this game. Fun easy to understand and great catchy music. #teamtrees lets go.

I love the tree facts!

While moving left or right the inputs for moving up or down get ignored. It would feel more responsive, if the duck moved into whichever direction was pressed last.

Level two has an enemy that moves across the wall, into the void.

It would be nice, if I could close the tree facts by pressing space instead of having to move my hands off the keyboard.

The hit detection feels unfair. E.g. in level 3 the enemy near the flag is far enough from the wall that it should be possible to squeeze through, but the enemy kills me without actually touching me.

The walls have a similar issue. It's frustrating to collide with the air above a wall, when trying to walk around a corner.

The art style of the sprites is inconsistent.

Nice music!

Thanks for all the input! :) I'll work on cutting the collision boxes down next time for sure.
