I discovered this game about a month ago and have been watching it improve firsthand in that time.

The game itself has simple yet detailed graphics and is set in a world which seems to grow endlessly at least for the first few days of playing.

There are so many sub features that you can always find something to do without feeling overwhelmed. I think this is partly due to the friendly sounding narrator who carefully explains every new feature as it is introduced.

This brings me to the sound, which is sublime. I almost never play games with sound but this has that pleasant sounding narrator and help voice and interesting sounding enemies along with uplifting music that never seems to get repetitive.

The game has a friendly and attentive dev who has implemented suggestions, explained queries and fixed issues within hours of them arising.

So as not to sound overly biased or anything, I should write something negative about the game. It has no name yet. Terrible. And it cannot make me a coffee in the morning, I still need to do that myself. Attrocious.

Seriously though, I have been blown away that such a well thought out game with so many permutations, variations and possibilities exists when it has been made by an indie developer. If this game had been made by one of the big companies, I would not have been surprised at all. It is that good.

For anyone who doesn't quite feel the same as me, I would suggest playing for a day or two rather than an hour or less. This is not a quick-fix-game, it is epic.

Thanks again for all of your help these past few weeks docnutnut.

Your feedback has been a catalyst for improving the project.

Happy to help. I tend to do this any time I come across a game that really appeals to me but has holes that need filling. Usually though I get bored within a few days but I can't see myself getting bored any time in the near future.

I enjoy helping you improve your game and it is great seeing the improvements, alterations and fixes being implemented.

All I need now is the Sword of a Thousand Truths (South Park humour).

This is awsome. Honestly, not much to critique here. This is a game I would absolutely buy and sink hundreds of hours into. Incredible art. Very well programmed and design gameplay wise. I may just play this myself in my spare time. As myCatsName said in their comment, very inspiring and extremely impressive. I don't throw out exaggerated praise, but this may very well be one of the most profession, well designed, overall best games I've ever seen in one of these jams period. Any more touch up or improving and I may need to hide my wallet when this officially releases.

Wow Darkland!

I appreciate your comments.

If there's ever anything you'd like changed/added, please let me know.

Thank you so much!

Of course. I didn't get super far as I was pretty busy at the time I reviewed it, but the first good 30 minutes was fantastic.

The art and game design elements are inspiring and motivating to see. All the animations evoke an "I want to play with that" response, personally.

My suggestion would be a new or edited cover / header image. The wolves image is very cool in its own way, but it seems disconnected from the style and palette in the game; I'm not sure they are in the same world.

Good call, it's a placeholder for now, but I do plan to create a more connected cover for the game at some point.

I was hoping I would get to check out some updates for TBD in this jam, I'm pumped to see all the progress and effort still going into this one.  Still a super fun game, and it even seemed like it saved my progress from the last game jam in spite of being a totally fresh download which I was impressed by.  Enjoyed the new skill tree, it made sense and kept my character levels but just returned the skill points to be re-assigned so all the updates seem like they are functioning really well.   I was miserably unsuccessful at the soul fragment hunt, and I have yet to actually gain anything from one of those levels but I'm still trying to figure out the mechanic.  I will need keep trying though I feel like I was getting close, had to play on a trackpad during the playtest so maybe when I have a mouse close by I will be able to play those parts more effectively.  Game is still looking awesome excited to keep seeing more!

Hey AsE!

Great to see you again ^^.

I hope all is well and I'm grateful for your continued interest in TBD.

I was miserably unsuccessful at the soul fragment hunt, and I have yet to actually gain anything from one of those levels but I'm still trying to figure out the mechanic.

I may need to work on the difficulty balance for this one, as this does diverge from the foundational turn-based mechanics of the game.
Perhaps introducing a method that eases up on some parameters slightly over time if the player struggles with this game mode. The main worry for me is if players actively seek to avoid the game mode. If so, it's time to consider making changes.

...had to play on a trackpad during the playtest so maybe when I have a mouse close by I will be able to play those parts more effectively.

Oh wow, I think that explains a significant part of the struggle then. I've only tested this mode with a mouse ^^.

Game is still looking awesome excited to keep seeing more!

Thank you so much AsE! If there's ever anything you'd like added or changed, please let me know.
