How is your game related to the Theme and Special Object?
Your on a train that is powered by a central Gear. The faster it moves, the faster the train moves. However, as time passes, it will start to lose integrity. If it desintegrates, you lose. Besides that, you have to arrive at your destination before time runs out.

With the nice graphics and audio + no bugs, this game feels really polished and it's a lot of fun to play as well. I agree with the others that the tutorial was a bit long and the gear was irrelevant, but it's still a great game.

With some tweaking and a few more functions for the wagons on the left this would totally be a nice little game.

Dammit, someone else had a simular idea! However, this is a very cute little game. I cant believe it´s your first game, because its just so polished. The music is, altough its not made by you, implemented very well and thats effort as well, with good soundeffects. The sounds of the honk, the catchy title melody, the sound of the train moving, etc. All of that is well done. The graphics are good as well, the only complaint may be that the background is very blank, but I dont expect that detail from a Jam Game and that this is my biggest complaint shows how fitting the rest is.

Gameplay is solid as well, altough the tutorial was a bit long and because you only have to shovel in coal at that point its not too interisting either. Maybe combining 1 and 2 into a single level would have been better, or just shortening them a bit. Level 3 however is good. I think the durabillity of the gear should have been a bit lower and oling it should take a bit longer as well, because the gear was in my playthrough never really that important.

Overall a just really polished game, with more levels and a bit better balancing it will for sure keep you entertained for quite some time.

I've made some games before, but this is my first game jam! However, I reckon this game has more polish than any other of my games haha

Your feedback means a lot to me, i'll take your feedback from the levels length, due to gear, coal and oil timing and try to set up these levels better! I already have some good ideas to make it more engaging while adding new features and tasks.

Thanks for playing my game!

I really liked the pixel art graphics and the gameplay was very fun too! I liked how the player is forced to move between cabins and the transition of the rooves disappearing also added to the overall high level of polish the game had, especially with sound design which I thought fit the overall feel of the game too! I also really appreciated the touches of making the tracks visually move faster when the train speeds up and the countdown notification was a really good way of notifying the player while still allowing them to move about the train completing other tasks.

I think some of the gameplay elements could possibly have done with some balancing (however this is a jam so I completely understand the time pressure!!), for example I found it was better to ignore the cog as focussing on just the coal meant you could get to the end before the cog broke anyway even with the obstacles, and I often felt it was better to just let the engine break and then repair it rather than cooling it down as this felt like it took longer than letting it break and building the coal back up.

Overall, I had a lot of fun playing: the design, audio and visuals all worked well together and really like the feel of it. This is an amazing entry!

Thank you for this awesome feedback! It really means a lot to me when people take their time to write out the pros and cons of my projects, now I know how to move forward!

Regarding the balancing aspect: I totally agree. I didn't have a chance to playtest a lot, but after submitting and taking my time playing the game, I noticed that the cog was losing integrity way too slow for it to matter at all and that the coal consumption time (the time it takes for one piece of coal to be used) is too low, causing the furnace to easily not overheat.

For a future update, i'd probably mess around with those numbers a bit and also add some more tasks to do around the other cabins :P

Thanks for the feedback and for playing my game!

I genuinely had a blast with this one. I love resource management games, and this scratched that itch. My biggest complaint is that the game ended!

I'm glad you liked it! Receiving a compliment like this on my first game jam truly made my day! Thank you for playing my game!
