This was cute, I really liked the intro cutscene although there was an issue where the narration peaked the mic towards the end pretty noticeably. The actual gameplay is an interesting take on turn-based combat mixed with a quick time event, which I liked, although the UI made it a little difficult to know which buttons you needed to press because correct key presses caused all subsequent required keys to shift in the UI to the left immediately. Overall it was charming and I want to commend whomever you hired to draw the intro and main menu because their art is super cute
Hey thank you for your feedback! I'm glad to hear that you thought the gameplay was interesting and that it was charming. The art for the intro and main menu were made by Illuminati!
As someone who does not usually play games with turn-based combat, I was a little confused about how to use your systems properly. I feel like a tutorial page in the menu could go a long way for the uninformed like myself. However, other than the issue of my lack of knowledge, this was really cool! I loved the art, the concept, and the fun 'lil intro. Good luck in the jam!
Thank you for the feedback. I wish you the best of luck in the jam as well!
Amazing work here! Fully voiced story intro sounds great and looks really cute, each characters are well designed and animated, and even the music is a banger!
A few personal thoughts:
- The action command is a little too easy. You could essentially take no damage and use peck all the way without using a single item/SP. One recommendation I'd have is maybe switch up the action command for each enemy attack?
- I feel that each turn takes a little too long for me. I would personally cut out the "Its X turn to attack" and instead either have an arrow or something pointing at them on top or just them flashing, and directly go to "X use Y move" message and them attacking asynchronously while the message pops
- The switch between using mouse and arrow keys is a little off putting. Maybe use WASD if mouse is involved? Or keep all action commands to mouse only?
Regardless, this is still an impressive entry. Everyone in your team is extremely talented and would love to see more! Great job!
