Nice little game, i would have liked some sound fx and a relaxing music. Also some death particles and a little wait before restarting would be nice. The font at the end in the score screen is kinda hard to read, and waiting for the score gets boring, it would be great if you could restart in an instant. The movement idea is cool but needs some more work as right now is kinda glitchy, still fun game.
As I read the comments, it seems that you won't be working with this game anymore so I'll give feedback in that direction. First of all, unlike other comments, I think the mechanic here is very self explanatory, and I really like the stretchy effect on the snake when I jump. I also appreciate the fact that the hit box of the spikes seem smaller than they look, which allow some room for mistakes - unless I jump almost directly to the spike, I wont lose health. As for the improvement, level design quickly becomes very repeated, probably due to the lack of time. I get that you want to create an infinite game, but leaving the levels looking identical should be avoided. The end screen increasing number every frame is pretty cool, but only for low score. I believe I spent about 10 seconds waiting for all the scores to go up when I got 300+ overall. You can specify a maximum time spent for this, such as increasing from 0 to [score] in 1 second, then the effect appears the same but faster. Last but not least, visual feedback to when you lose health, it it almost the key to having a polished game, and I believe I don't need to elaborate much on this point. Overall, the mechanic in your game reminds me of the jump in Ori, and it is very mobile friendly, you could actually make a mobile game out of this. There are bits and pieces that need work, but this is a good attempt. Keep it up!
Thank you so much for the feedback, yeah it is likely that I won't be working with this game anymore, that may or may not change, but thank you again for the feedback, it is really good and helpful, and thanks for playing :D
That's a very cool movement mechanic, I enjoyed it. I believe it was a little bit difficult, I think, because of the gravity. Maybe the first couple minutes should be a little bit easier (less spikes, more room to move...). Anyway, good game!
Thank you for playing, yes that is a better idea then I have currently, I wish I had it when I was making the game, but if I remake the game in the future, I will be sure to put something like that in the game, Thanks again :D
First try was a bit hard but after I understood I must keep calm with my mouse :) Maybe the gravity is a bit strong and the snake too big ? Keep working on it !!
Thank you for playing it :D
Nice game! Knowing the deadline, this is really cool. Snappy and fun gameplay.
Thank you :D
Dude, it's clear that you don't have the time to finish, but man, i LOVED the mechanic, if you had the time to polish i'm certainly that this would be a amazing game (still a good game).
Yup, sadly I didn't, but that's because I didn't manage my time correctly (I really need to do that in the next jam), but thanks for giving it a go, I really appreciate it
I realise you didn't finish this but it has the makings of being a really cool game. I really do hope you get to finish this and we see it later on! I'm afraid I have to score it on what's there, but I do see potential in this game. And well done for #finishingit!!
Thanks for the feedback, and thanks for seeing the potential in this game :P
take me a moment to get use of the controls. play some games on easy to get the hang of it. after it I could play this game on hard mode.
One thing I want to add is that you should upgrade your graphics after this jam so the game has a little bit more feel to it.
If I ever continue on this project in the future, I will :D thanks for the feedback and thanks for playing the game :D
Nice job with the game, it was fun to play.
It was a little confusing at first. It took me a few deaths until I realized what I needed to do. You may want to put the player in a safe space starting out. Let them play around with the controls for a bit, then once they get high enough, start pushing the spikes up.
Having to choose the difficulty after each restart is a little off-putting. I would just have a restart button, then a smaller button under it to change difficulty. I personally wasn't, but sometimes players feel insulted if they're repeatedly asked to choose their difficulty.
Thanks for the feedback and thanks for playing my game, your suggestions are really helpful, sadly I made the UI when the jam was getting close to being finished, so I didn't really have time to polish it (that's my fault, I didn't manage my time correctly), and I really should have done what you said about the letting players test around the controls, that's a really good suggestion. But thank you again for playing and for the feedback, I really appreciate it :D
Great game! Technically is really solid, I like the pressure you get because of the spikes, not an easy game at all but already looks like a finished android game!
Overall 4/5
Thanks so much, I really appreciate it :D
One thing you should definitely try if youre gonna rehash this is to make the jump more springy, mostly in the character model. Make it stretch like you have already, but then when you release, really make the snake spring back into a smaller but wider shape, to really get a sense of propelling upward. I would also make gravity a little bit more arcadey, and make the base shape a little bit rounder to make hitbox detection more readable. This would make a good casual phone game though, definitely worth a rehash
Thank you so much, If I ever do come back to this project, I will definitely take what you said into consideration :D Thanks again
This game looks like you had a neat idea but you only had 2 hours to make it. The game is riddled with bugs and the mechanics aren't clear. I would have foregone the difficulty settings and menu features to spend more time on improving the core experience first.
Well, there were some rough spots in the development, scope creep was a part of that. I made some stuff that didn't end up in the final game, and that took a bit of my time, and I didn't manage my time correctly, so that is a big factor of that , hopefully next jam will be different. Thank you for mentioning that the gameplay isn't clear, I updated the description to hopefully make sure that it's more clear [if it still isn't clear, sure to let me know!] and as for the bugs, which bugs did you encounter? as I didn't experience any bugs while play testing my game, so I am curious as to which bugs you encountered. Thanks for giving my game a go, and for offering constructive criticism :D I appreciate it
At some points I fell through the ground/walls entirely, not just the tail but the head too, and kept falling until death. Sometimes clicking wasn't stretching my snake, I thought that was a bug but I read your description and I guess I was sometimes not clicking on the blue boxes and instead just clicking in any direction I wanted to move to.
that's not supposed to happen, your tail is supposed to fall through on easier difficulties, so that it is easier to get through, but not the whole head as well, I'm sorry that that ruined your experience.
nice game :D
Thanks :D
