This seems like a fun, quick game. The combinations of prompts give great opportunities for creating stories of other worlds.
First of all, how can you steal this idea from my head? (joking) I had a similar idea but nothing fully developed.
About the game: I don't know if this is cannon but I love the idea of the beta site. Especially with regard to the game. A small detail that holds everything together so well.
About the criticism:
The worst thing in my opinion is the readability. The background is great but maybe adding a black or blue text background with 05 - 15 % transparency could improve the readability a lot. Especially the blue of the stars and the font are very similar. I had highlighted the text to make it easier to read. (but I am also dyslexic)
Secondly: The second page is actually very filled. The marging on the left and right is ok, but there is not much space at the top and bottom. Likewise, the patting in the Scenario List is almost not there. Maybe reducing the number columns, the header and maybe reordering the designation table from 3 rows and 2 (4) columns to 2 rows and 3 (6) columns could create more space.
Lastly: I don't understand what the planet designation is supposed to do and mean exactly (but this can be a purely me problem).
But that's complaining at a high level. As has already been mentioned, the prompts are fun and capture the theme very well. So it's a good game.So I just played a bit of a solo campaign and here are my impressions:
the character creation process is as freeform as it can possibly be, which I wasn't that used to but it was fun. However, there is the restriction of PCs being part of an elite and top-secret group of explorers. I think that if you're gonna put restrictions on characters (which is totally fine btw), you should provide some creative impulses for players to work with, i.e. what makes those elites roughly the elites that they are.
With other people, this might be different but solo just feels too stagnant for me. While I can, and did, tie different debriefs together (esp. when I rolled the same planet again), the pace at which this story developed was too slow. More importantly, because the only tracker towards progress is the Dial Home gauge, I didn't feel like I was working towards some narrative goal within the parameters of the game's design.
A jam-specific criticism I have is the usage of the d6 for planet designations. There are three dice rolls used in this game, and one of them is not one of the Lesser Love Dice, when it feels like it could have been incorporated fairly easily. But I'll gladly read through your throughts of using a d6 and not a d4 or d8 :)
Overall though, I did have fun with the journaling aspect of I Went Through the Stargate Once. The prompts are fun to work with. It is just on a broader scope, where I think it could have used a bit more work.
Note: The game is normally $2 (hence why it shows a price) but it's free through at least the 14th of December so everyone can check it out :)
