Fun game, I love cards! It’s trickier than expected, and I ended up with one card remaining a couple of times.

It took me a moment to figure out what was going on, but I’m wondering if it’s a bug or if I didn’t understand the rules.

  • There were a few times where I couldn’t finish a set of three with a card of the same suit. Were there additional requirements for the third card or only that it match suit of the bottom card?
  • There were also a couple of instances where I went to place the first card on a flipped card and it wouldn’t take. It seemed to require the same suit as the flipped card. Is that intentional? It seems like a good rule to increase challenge, but you can quickly end up with unusable cards.

It’s nice how the rules are included on the game screen at a button press. Card animations, themeing (empires? rebels? soldiers?), and bouncier music would also jazz things up a bit. Either way, this is a great entry and a fun little card game.

thanks for playing!

The game has some "protection" agains invalid moves. For example if you are trying to clear a King(13) it won't let you use as a first card an Ace or a 2, because otherwise you wouldn't be able to clear it because the maximum you can add for a second card is a 10:

Ace + 10 = 11

2 + 10 = 12

I hope you see where I'm going. Similar with the Queen. It won't take an Ace as first card.

As for the third card not taking, I'm not sure. As long as its the same suit as the empire card it should work. Maybe there is a bug that I didn't encounter when testing.

Took me a minute to understand the rules, but after I really enjoyed it.

thanks for playing, anything that would have helped understand the rules better?

I struggled to write the rules in such a small canvas. Maybe a tutorial screen?

I think it was more of I had never played that card game before. I also thought I was supposed to click a card and then click where to place it, and not drag it so I got stuck on that for a second. I don't think a tutorial would be a bad idea, but I think something simple where it just gives some guided hints, like on the first round, on what the game expects, like click and drag a card to the field, drag to the discard pile if your don't want the card, and select the deck to draw 3 more.

good ideas, thanks

Really liked the little polish details, like pressing the button to see what each element was (discard, pool etc...)

Seems to simply not work for me.

as you don't like the game or it won't start? If you can provide more details about your hardware/OS/browser I may be able to fix it.

Sorry if I created confusion. I meant that the game seems to not proceed further than the screen with "game" in the corner.
In-between leaving this comment and now I have change OS (now Linux Mint) and I am still using Firefox. I may retry playing to see if that's done anything.
Edit: seems to still be the case. I get a beep noise when clicking the "game" in the corner and nothing happens if I just wait. Played on an Asus laptop with an AMD Athlon GPU.

thanks for responding. I guess I'm showing my age... To start the game you got to double click the game icon.

Thought it would be cool to fake an old desktop computer with multiple apps. Just double click/double tap the game icon and it should start the game.

Sorry for the confusion

This did trip me up as well lol, but I did realize what it was after I tried double clicking it.

Interacting with the stock while the cards are dealing causes catastrophic failure. The deck, its surroundings, and the soundtrack enveloping it all is pleasing to the senses.
