I couldn't quite understand the 4th rule that was like this: - 3rd part tools and kits may be leveraged.

Does this mean that we may use models from for example the unity store/unreal marketplace?

Hey, this area can get fuzzy fast, as there is a big difference between using a few free models, vs using complete ready-to-go game template.
But to answer your question: yes, you can use store / open source assets. Rationale is:  it's less about the assets and more about what is done with them.
I will discuss with the other mods and update the page rules to be more descriptive.

Thank you for the reply :)

Can we use assets we've paid for (models, SFX etc)? Or do they have to be free?

Yes you can, if any rules  change ,  you  will know before the start of the jam. Also join our Discord for more! (Sorry for the late response)
