Did you work in a team?
1+ (see credits) and, yes. once i settled into this project (after 2 previous WIPs), it was enjoyable.

Was the resolution a challenge?
For what P3 is, i can't say that the limited resolution was much of a challenge. In fact, my art skills may have benefited from it :)

What did you learn?
This was something that i wanted to write for some time and LRJ2020 was the right time to do it. If i learned anything, it's that "you'll know" when the time is right.

I like the game! I think one thing that might really bump this up is to have the firing rate be tied to the music beats or something :D Turn it into a rhythm planetary defense or something

I love planetary defense type games! Good fun!

Developer

thanks, MGD. I have an itch to develop this further. No promises on doing that but since you appreciate the genre, i would appreciate any ideas u might have for it (probably best to leave them on the regular page, outside of the jam - and the same goes for anyone else). I know i want (at least) an occasional alien entering air space (well, "space" space :) ). Thanks for checking it out.

these asteroids really don't like happy endings, alright.
quick and simple fun, good work :D

Developer

Not sure why they tend to take "the villian" roles but, thankfully, they do. thanks for playing :)

I really like the mechanic, simple but well executed.

I was expecting for it to speed up a bit after a while.

Developer

Hi,

The 'roid spawn rate caps at 1/sec but their velocities never cap and pick up with each new Wave (every 10 spawns).

It gets noticeable for me ~W15 and pretty much unbeatable ~W30-35 while the gun rotation rate never changes.

Maybe shorter Waves are in order? Every 5 'roids, say?

Thanks for the comment and thanks for playing :)

Developer

hey, guys. as my first "pixel restricted" effort, the notion of "rotated pixels" never dawned on me. i put it together in the last 2 1/2 days of the jam, was happy sharing something "fun", and never contemplated such things. please rate accordingly. and, thanks for trying it out :)

It's not actually running in 64x64 pixels, I'd use pixel perfect camera, it's better than nothing.

I would recommend you to add some SFX, workout the gameplay making it faster or diferent over time, I felt it very slow.

Best regards!

Ultra-simple arcade game, but relaxing. It doesn't technically fit the 64x64 requirement with the rotating pixels, though.

Developer

thanks for playing, SG. i tend to go "relaxing" everything, anymore :) and, see above re: rotated pixels? i never knew the term, until now :)

Really nice arcade feel!

Developer

and, same to yours :) thanks, Cleverzoid.

Nice simple planet defense game. The auto-firing turret adds some extra strategy compared to similar games.  Nice sound effect and particle pizzaz, and great choice of music.

Developer

Thanks :) the auto-fire addition changed the dynamic and, as you noted, brought a small strategic element. and, i should properly credit https://www.bfxr.net/ for the effect. i generally assume "everyone knows" (since it's the only thing i use for such thing ) but i'm surely wrong.

Very original take on asteroids!

Developer

odd, i never considered it a take on asteroids. seems that you & others do, and majority rules, so... now it's stuck (in the same space in outerspace) and in good company :) thanks, gosukiwi!

Interesting game, the idea seems original to me, maybe something repetitive... but entertaining:D
