Very interesting game. The awkwardness of the controls reminded of Qwop, sort of a 'the controls are meant to be tricky' kinda game. I loved the relaxing music. Very chill.
the scary thing is , as the dev the controls feel rather logical ^^,
but yeah since it can be tricky i thought some relaxing music goes well with it.
thanks for playing
The idea is really great. I couldn’t really steer well but I’m not a good player. :) I rated objectively. I liked the graphics and the resolution is also good implemented.
Maybe you want to play mine, too?
difficult to control the boat T.T
doesn't run in browser, mac/safari.
hmm how unusual, so since engine takes care of export and such, not sure what i could do there, so sadly i dont have a mac and cant really export and compile it for mac
sorry about this
Good job.
Quite Chill, controls were a bit fiddly but I got the hang of it, found I got stuck a bit too easily on the edges of things (like a real Kayak!) Great checkpointing and the audio and SFX made just wondering around a nice experience.
Good job!
The sound effects and music give this a relaxing atmosphere. Good job!
The controls were a bit strange at first but once I figured it out, I enjoyed it very much! I love the SFX and Music. Pretty relaxing concept
loved the atmosphere, found the controls to be very hard to grasp
The controls here are a bit awkward. I’d have loved to have more ‘standard’ modifiers than Ctrl and Alt. I feel like I got the hang of the controls after a bit of tooling around. I got ~10 minutes up the river, but eventually got to a part where no matter how fast I got going, it would just push me backwards. Not sure where to go from there. I’d also love for the camera to stay a bit ahead of the character. Multiple times, I’d have good speed, only to have a rock or tree pop out right in front of me and kill all of my momentum. Overall, this has a lot of potential for a fun QWOP-like experience with a few QOL tweaks.
Thanks for playing, the Pushing back is more or Less a other River Arm that merged withh the one, there is an actual map in the Screenshots since i wasnt able to finish the Minimap one.
and i guess after the jam i add something that the camera begins to pan infront of the kayak the faster you go.
This game really has the feel of an older game in a great way, fun, but simple. My one comment is I wish the numbers in the time were spaced out just a little bit more as they sometimes were hard to read when touching each other, but that didn't impact my enjoyment of the game.
thanks
tbh i had huge Problems with the font ... somehow it didnt want to except spacing between characters at all
Not every jam game needs to be action packed, and this is a good example why. Its relaxing to paddle around with the sound water flowing and some quiet music playing. Though it is a bit hard to find where to go, as I got stuck after paddling out to the open area.
I like the vibe. Great submission : )
thanks,
sadly with the 64x64 pixel screen it didnt found a good way to implement a minimap, maybe i find a solution after the jam
Great musing and sfx, and a relaxing color palette.
In my opinion, the kayak was a little too large for the screen in this resolution and the turning camera messes with my eyes a little. But these were not true shortcomings for me personally, because they created to a disorientation very similar to sailing on open sea; they just improved my immersion. :-)
I would have appreciated it if there was some practice or tutorial area at the beginning to get used to the controls.
i tried to have it smaller but it actualy messed realy hard with godot so this was more or less the smallest i could go and have it work..
about the controlls, yeah i fell in the creator biased without noticing
