Alright! Really well utilized all the art assets! Legend of Grimrock comes to mind from the experience.

Battle mechanics I didn't quite grasp, or I was killed by every monster I engaged with in the dungeon. Game also didn't allow me to start new game before quitting and restarting the whole game. Anyways impressive work getting it all done during the jam!

Thanks for the feedback. I was going for the Grimrock feel but that’s pretty generic. Battling should have been simple (left click on icon) but needs a good tutorial to get going on the basic mechanics.

I think I had trouble with Legend of Grimrocks battle as well

I love RPG so I was looking forward for this as it reminded me of some OLD SCHOOL game I used to play. The presentation and the art work are really nice but even from character creations it is very difficult to understand what to do. Are the Attributes randomly generated? What is the most important for each class? I can guess Barbarian needs strength and Archer needs Dexterity but what attributes is needed for the elementalist? Mine had a 16 constitution by default. And then the Dungeon looks really cool but I started getting attacked by a "Zuul" (That Ghosbuster's Dog) from miles away and he kept damaging me even if I was two rooms away. There is some work to do here, but I believe it can become a very good game.

Thanks for taking a look at it! Yes the stats will play into your combat and defense just like any D&D game (it’s based on AD&D rules 2nd Edition). The attributes are randomly generated at first (based on rules) but you have extra to assign. There are bugs (as are in any game jam entry) so yeah there’s lots of work to do but I had fun with the jam and think the game might be worth going forward with.

I was really excited for whatever you had in store for me! I loved the music, and the portraits at the beginning! I really really wish that I could hold onto the hype after I entered the dungeon.

While I can't actually give you a rating, you did ask for feedback so here it is :)

This is my rubric:

[ + - - - - ]      1 - Missing
[ + + - - - ]     2 - Somewhat Present
[ + + + - - ]    3 - Present
[ + + + + - ]   4 - Well Done
[ + + + + + ]  5 - Outstanding

==============

Theme (2/5)
[ + + - - - ]

I noticed the oxygen level, but it didn't really seem to have an impact.

Gameplay (2/5)
[ + + - - - ]

The intro song and the class selection got me so hype for the game! I was disappointed when my elementalist/archer team had nothing to their name. On my second attempt I found swords and shields for each. It sort of diminished the hype for me.

Implementation (2/5)
[ + + - - - ]

I killed a demon of some sort, and then kept hearing its audio. I got myself stuck in a part of the dungeon after the door closed behind me with no switches, and no way out. I was done after that.

Presentation (3/5)
[ + + + - - ]

The music was phenomenal! The portraits for the characters were breathtaking (possibly AI generated? Either way, well done)! I scored it as high as I did because of how well the game was sold to me on the outside. I scored it as low as I did because of how hollow it felt in comparison when I entered the dungeon.

Creativity (3/5)
[ + + + - - ]

There was creativity that showed through in your design of the dungeon, its monsters, and the system itself. You took a classic RPG style and gave it a semblance of life. There was nothing particularly unique, which is why I can't score it higher, but I liked what I saw.

It's obvious that a lot of thought, time and effort went into making this game. I think it was a victim of scope-creep. You wanted to do too much, but you couldn't deliver on the expectations you set for yourself, or for your players. I hope that this was a learning experience for you. There were a lot of great elements here that just weren't fully realized. I would love to have you post a video of you playing through it for me. I want to be able to appreciate everything you put into it.

Thanks for the extensive feedback and I agree with you on all parts. As for the theme, those can always be interpretive. The oxygen level runs down based on how hard difficulty you choose so 30 minutes, 15 minutes, then 10 minutes (easy, normal, hard). Once it runs out your party dies. Yes the portraits are AI generated but curated for each class. Not sure the issues were scope creep but rather I hit some days where I just didn’t have it in me to work on things (after a day of my regular job brain is fried). It was crunch at the end so I had hoped to get magic spells and more items in but that didn’t happen. Bugs aside I had a lot of fun with it and will be looking at a post-jam version with those fixed and more content. Appreciate the time and effort you gave it!

I feel you on the crunch. I wasn't able to get to a lot of features on our own game that I wanted to include. I'm planning on polishing it after the jam. Good luck to you, and congrats on making it to the end!
