In the story the paradox is that our main character is responsible for opening the portal which sends her to the shadow realm at the start of the game. If the player chooses to continue to seek power they will cause the original portal to open and reset the game.

I really like the art style of this game, it reminds me of Don't Starve.
Wow! This is an impressive game. I love the 2D/3D look with the drawn art. The audio works well, and the voice acting is a great touch! The combat is simple, yet very fun. Getting the rhythm of striking and dodging is challenging at first, but fun to master.
I managed to complete a loop after several failed runs. The boss seemed glitched when I fought it, the sprite seemed like some sort of texture error had occurred, looking like a mis-scaled and offset texture rather than discernible artwork. I found one other bug with the boss.. after defeating it, if you keep striking where it fell, it'll reappear and play the "defeat" animation again and again.
Overall a really awesome entry. Great work!
Simple yet so polished rogue-like experience! I am happy to play it.
Art is great all around the game: UI, dialogue portraits, character/enemy animations, background.
Visual effects are also cool, it is helpful to have that indicator of enemy attacking (very nice cheat against having separate animation frames!) and of an enemy receiving the damage (but separate colors would help to see if you were successful at landing a hit, or if you should dash away right now)
Audio is nice, good job at voicing every single line! Adding more sound effects (e.g. footsteps or protagonist/enemy charging a punch) could either improve the overall picture or turn it into a mess.
Battle mechanic is quite basic though, and since enemies can attack anywhere around them, I would appreciate the main character having the same freedom (but I guess restricting attacks only to the side makes it easier to keep the animation consistent).
Thank you for this game!
Fun combat mechanics!
