Notes from gameplay:
- Main menu screen is nice! Name is cute and I love the bone shape for the buttons. An outline around the title or some text shadow would make it pop more
- Music is great, spooky and fun
- Font is so good!
- Tutorial examples are useful, would be better for remembering if the player was doing the actions to help us learn versus just watching/reading.
- The images on the tombstones make it clear which match, but the thorn would pop more in a different color
- Would be nice to have info menu close when clicking outside of the menu text area
- I seem to be able to place the selections outside of the grid (like flower tombstone is placed so the right box is outside of the play area)
- Unclear how to get points. Tried placing tombs on top of the plants as well as having plants inside the adjacent highlighted tiles for the plants but neither progress score. Edit: looks like points aren't updated until the level is done, making this update in real time would make it a lot easier to see if we're doing it right.
- Tombstones don't register drag selection very well, feels like only the bases are set to register that click/drag
- finished level 2 with 12 points (told to get 11), but no done button to go to level 3
- Getting a negative score seems to result in display error: Score: - > Edit: oh that's a 3. Looks like an arrow, that font isn't quite clear for level 3
- Quit game, returned to main menu to play other levels (no level advancement or button to get to main menu).
- I liked the tactical negative point you take in level 4 to get the double thorn selection
- Beat all 5 levels!
Overall, I really like the concept of this game. With more development, this could be a fun mobile game I can definitely see myself playing while waiting for the bus or during ad breaks. I get a slight reminder of the game Triple Town, which uses a similar placement grid concept - it might be a useful game to play for inspiration on more mechanics if you were to expand out development. Giving the option for rotation (maybe through limited use) could also add more tactical choices. I think there's a really solid idea here which could make a great game if expanded on! Great work!
thank you for really big response!!
Really straight forward, kind of confusing at first, but passing 2 levels made it so clear. The art is really nice and the music is relaxing but also makes it fun!
Its not overcomplicated and i enjoyed playing it :D.
