This was neat, concise and clearly written. For a short piece of text  (comparatively, some of the entries here are crazy big) you crammed a great deal in.

I think the mechanics are fine but what I would have liked to see more of is the side-kick theme, so emphasis on assisting the heroes, setting up their corny one-liners and possibly being a hot-headed youngster whose rashness sets up the scene for the superhero to shine. Additionally, it would be nice for the status of superhero to be a goal of the sidekick, maybe as an endgame scenario ("There's nothing more for me to teach you, Gravity Girl!").

Of course, the fact that the side-kick has weaker powers than the hero will help to facilitate this, but it would be nice to have that embedded in the mechanics more solidly.

The play through narratives were great. We need to see more of these in RPGs, they used to be such a common feature. Yours were also nicely written as well as demonstrating the rules of the game in practice.

Great work.

I really appreciate you taking the time to read and review my entry; thank you! I actually struggled with leaving the narrative examples in and I'm glad they were well received.

Congrats on getting an RPG together! I had some thoughts while reading:

  • I wasn't sold on the contested rolls. One thing you might try in the next version is if GM used smaller or bigger die for different challenges. Like something super easy, use a d2. Something very hard d20. Creates a lot more tension when the hero rolls a 6 on a d6 and the GM gets a 1 on a d20. Maybe even the hero gets bigger die for really good RP? Just a thought.
  • Small thing: I wanted to see more examples of drawbacks to the powers cause flaws are fun.
  • The star of this game is your narrative. I got very My Hero Academia meets modern Marvel vibes. Your tone in the narrative sections is fantastic!

Great job! I had a lot of fun reading this one and running through your very cinematic writing.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read and review! I was conflicted over the contested rolls but wanted to stick with a single dice per player. I'll definitely play around with different dice options. Thanks for the suggestion.

Glad you enjoyed the writing. I had worried it was too much.

No prob! And I totally get the wanting to stick to one die thing... I have never been able to stick to my guns on that one BUT I get it haha.

Nah, the writing was good. Created good tone. As a reader, I could tell you were having fun writing it, which in turn caused me to have fun.
