Comments on the jam
Was fun but I think a month is a bit too long and progress stagnated towards the end

Is funny! I like the model and the level, also great music, it has potential, don't see much about the theme but nice work!

Developer

Hey sorry for the late reply, thank you very much, we did plan to include the theme somewhat with obtaining the paints but you're right there's nothing about it in the game. Honestly during the game jam the artists and music guys were such a huge source of inspiration with the consistent quality of stuff they were sending me and I'm sure they'll be over the moon when I show them your message :)

This is the most fluid 3rd and 1st person movement in this jam, by far, also the dynamic animation is flawless, it feels like dayz, or fortnite. Also very well optimized, I've played two games in this jam with far worse graphics that ran at about 10 FPS on my notebook, but yours got 25~30 easily.

It looks and feels like it could turn out to be a really fun multiplayer shooting game, but I didn't see much metroidvania in it.

Keep it up man, pretty nice job you've done so far!

Hey sorry for the late response, thank you very much for the compliments, while a lot of the praise should probably go to the creators of the ALS character controller I did focus very heavily on the fluidity of the movement/controls so to see someone else praise that means a lot to me and I agree, I think the concept could be really fun in multiplayer :)

Cool idea and the paint effects are fun!  The sound effects also sound good, though the volume was significantly low on my machine.   It sounds like you had some good ideas going into the development process and it will be neat to see those get developed.

Thank you very much :) Yes I actually have a pet peeve with games defeaning me on launch so I specifically made everything quiet but I couldn't get a volume slider working before the due date, can't wait to check out your game!

Even though you guys didnt get to finish this, what you made is still a pretty cool sandbox. The paint gun reminds me of portal's gel mechanics, and I think it could make for some solid platforming.

I had a lot of fun just running around the cave and getting to the end of it and then going back.

On the aspect of metroidvania, since you have different paints, those could be unlockables that you could get as a reward for exploring or completing things, and the new paints would allow the player to explore more. This seems like the idea you guys were going for, and if it is, I really like it. I normally don't like the idea of a 3d metroidvania, but this setup seems really cool to me.

Hey, thank you very much for the kind words, the Portal gel mechanics were actually the direct inspiration for this even using blue for bouncing and orange for super speed and yes you are right that was exactly what we were going for with the upgrades! It was going to be a puzzle platforming game where you'd have to "solve" where to place the paints but we did struggle somewhat making it an interesting puzzling experience, if I could redo this I'd have gone in with the sole intention of making it a platforming game :)
