Things I Like:

  • individually, the art assets look good
  • nice background music
  • nice gun shot FX

Things I Would Change:

  • make what to do at the start of the game more clear, it seems like you can only walk a bit each way until you hit invisible walls.
  • consistent art style, the different assets clash with each other

Broken Stuff:

  • pressing E to interact will lock up character at times with no interaction appearing
  • lots of character controller movement bugs like getting stuck in/on walls

Very nice presentation. Stylish, expressive graphics and a haunting color scheme. Good music and SFX. Well done with the assets, giga-chads.

Unfortunately, the game is extremely buggy at this stage.

Here are some of the issues I faced:

1. Much of the HUD is offscreen. This can probably be fixed easily by anchoring it to the bottom of the viewport and giving it some padding on the Y axis.

2. Death comes very suddenly, and respawning takes over 10 seconds on my machine.

3. During the game over screen, I was still able to click and shoot.

4. One time, after respawning, I found that an enemy was still on top of me and immediately killed me again.

5. Traversal of background features isn't intuitive. For example, I can climb this sheer vertical cliff which looks like it's part of the background:

But here, I get stuck on an invisible collision layer:

It seems like this game is unfinished. I see the concept, but it's just too glitchy and non-metroidvania to be "good" right now. All the base systems seem to be in place, you just need to build more stuff, maybe patch some bugs(There was a floating unkillable enemy at some point). I hope you manage to make something from this!
