The music was really enjoyable tho. Good work! I love some mecanics you have here! Just a point is that, there are too many keys and no possibility to map them. It's very complicated for people who didn't have a qwerty keyboard. :/

Thanks for playing and commenting !

Sorry about the keyboard problem, but we didn't have time to add custom key mapping even if it  was planned. Being a fellow non-qwerty keyboard user, my advice is to search on google how to switch your keyboard to qwerty. It's quick and allows you to switch your keyboard in an instant whenever you want.

The soundtrack and artwork were nice, and the level design did a good job of making the castle seem large and interesting.

On the other hand, it was difficult to tell when things were hit, and there didn't seem to be much of a point to fighting at all -- it seemed better to just skip every enemy instead of risking being hit.

Also the skeletons' aim seemed off. Sometimes they would shoot straight upwards, and sometimes the bone would disappear the moment it left their hands.

Thank you for playing and commenting !

We all put a lot of efforts into the game, and I am glad to hear that you liked it. These issues have been noted and a future version will correct them along the addition of more content. Combat will be the first thing we will work on, to make sure it is one of the most enjoyable part of the game. As for the skeleton, we put them under severe accuracy training until the next update so I am sure their aim will improve soon.

the game just turns black when i touched a golden checkpoint?

music's damn good
no sfx though?
and death animations? like they just disappear when you kill them but its good that everything else is animated
also its too hard to tell if my attacks are hitting enemies that needs an animation to
overall seems promising but unfinished

The golden checkpoint is the final one in the game, it’s the end of this demo.

All those will be added, Sfx, hit and hurt animations etc...

We hope to do all this in the super edition of the jam.

Thanks for your review!

Fun game! I like the setting and the vibe, the music especially. The controls are quite good. So is the level layout - I liked exploring and I liked how after I got the powerup it continued along the same path before looping back to the previous area. I made it to the end (assuming that's the gold floppy?)

Some suggestions:

  • The download is not marked as Windows, so installing through the itch app didn't work.
  • Some kind of feedback on enemy hits would go a long way. For the ones that take more than one hit, it's difficult to tell whether I hit them or not.
  • Attacking while jumping feels strange. It's kinda like it stops your jump half way, then gives you a little boost afterwards. I would expect the jump to continue the same whether you're attacking or not.
  • After I died, pressing R to return to save point didn't work.

Nice work!

Thanks for playing, and for the feedback !

Getting the golden floppy is indeed the end of the game for now, but much more is to come in a future version. Your suggestions are noted, especially the lack of feedback on enemies. These are all issues we just didn't have time to correct in time for the jam.

If you're interested in seeing more of this game please stick around for the MVM7 Super Edition, where we plan to add more powerups, more levels to explore and more awesome music!
