Am I allowed to submit a game that was started in another jam? But expanded on for MVM?

Yes. Any metroidvanias are welcome.

If the Jam lasts the 3 months, is there a voting period afterwards, or is the voting just open and freeform the whole time?

Also, if this is more casual, how strict are the rules exactly?  I ask partly because my main character is a primal woman in leather rags.  I'm pretty sure that's fine, but just wanted to double check it didn't break the Nudity rules.  Included image for reference:

But the main point of contention is I wanted the enemies to explode into parts and viscera when they die.  I could rationalize it being PG-13, in say the spirit of Samurai Jack or something, but assuming it definitely would break the rules, would I have to:

  • Just not submit it to the Jam.
  • Omit the gore, and only add it outside of the Jam.
  • Include a separate gore version of the game page.
  • Have a gore setting so people could turn it on or off.
  • It's outside the main Metroidvania Month, so gore away.

There's a 2 weeks voting period afterwards.

Your character design is fine. As for gore, it's always been a grey line. If you already checked the linked posts, I'd assume your suggestion of rationalizing it for PG-13 will be alright.
