Yes, as long as it follows both jams' rules.

Hey y'all!

The Pixel Notes Festival is an initiative I took regarding the huge demographic of musicians in the Metroidvania Month Jam community that sometimes had a hard time to find a team and show off their skills. It's a virtual music festival featuring talents found in the community, from anywhere and with any skill level. It turns out the third edition of the festival is happening this weekend, and I wanted to invite y'all to come watch it! Some sets are even complete with visuals! It will take place on the festival's Youtube channel in the shape of premieres. The teaser is below, and the complete list of the sessions is here!

Hope to see you there!

You are currently in the forum of said SMVM.
SMVM is the super edition, it lasts three months, MVM is the other jam, which lasts only one month.

It has already started.

A lot of energy is packed in these tracks. Feeling of urgency conveyed. Nice work!

Lovely work on this! You came up with a great story and creativity. My favorite track was The Bubble Tower and Battle of Filodex. Nice work!

Relaxing and soothing, nice work!

Lovely work! I like the melody on Guidance, and Abyssal Nightmare gave me chills! The story you composed around the theme was great as well. Nice work!

LMMS GAAAANG! Interesting interpretation of the theme, and solid work on all tracks. I loved it, One Man Madness was my favorite!

Nice little entry! They Watch was very simple but nailed the feeling nonetheless. Good work!

Impressive work! The soundtrack was relaxing and soothing, I enjoyed just listening to it. Good job!

Enchanting! It felt like watching a movie. These tracks are well done, I liked them!

Love the piano melody on Yume no Umi! Great use of Japanese instruments, enjoyed my stay!

Polished and nails the underwater dream feel. Liked it!

Beautiful and immersive, especially with the ambient samples! Archipelago's my favorite, it has a great piano! Nice work!

MV is the only guidepost!

Great piano on Soaring in Ambition! Fearmonger was epic, and loved the violins Crossing the Depths of Sorrow, which probably was my favorite. Overall great cohesion and good storyline. Nice work!

Lovely! Realism has such a great piano. I think you really got the magical feeling you were going for! Nice one!

Lovely little entry! I could feel the Mother inspiration, and it definitely had the underwater vibes. It was very relaxing too, I enjoyed it!

Smooth transitions! Having a compilation video helps notice the amazing cohesiveness of the tracks. I loved when the synths kicked in on The Street, and The Hall's drums were epic. Nice storyline and interpretation of the theme as well! The End is a great chill closure track as well!

Very nice use of arps and melodies in all the tracks to create that dreamy feeling. Good orchestration and progression on the whole work; Reunion is bright and lighthearted, makes for a great finale. Enjoyed it!

Quite the listening experience. 1:51 kicked in on Verdant Sea and I was impressed by the switch. Same goes for 1:17 on Buzz Merchant. Cavern of Dreams was epic and I got happily surprised by the vocals on Confluence. What a creative entry. Very nice work!

Nice little entry! Your interpretation of the theme and the scenario that followed were good, and your tracks fit the idea! I liked Dream Walk, you're really feeling the dream on this one! Good work!

Nice work on the drums, and it was interesting to read the thoughts that went into picking these instruments. It was chill and atmospheric, especially in the last minute. Loved the addition of the shakuhachi. Very cool!

Fitting for a detective game! It's good that mysterious, unreal feeling to it, especially on the waltz. Love the instrumentation on Shadows in the Desert Sun. Nice work!

Very consistent entry! You Lead Me and don't live together had nice rhythm on the drums. I also applaud lyrics on the ending track, I haven't seen much of them around here! Nice work!

Very creative to use a Vocaloid this way! It's the first time I see it used in here and it's a great idea! Great first ambient track, I enjoyed it! Nice entry!

(1 edit)

Good work, very calm and soothing. As others mentioned already, the tracks were a bit too quiet. Enjoyed it nonetheless.

Strong koto! I found myself following the rhythm of the track. I think it's quite the solid piece of work, everything fits together nicely. Well done!

Great instrument picks, lots of movements in the track. It's sort of a small trip in a single track! Love the small melody at the end to wrap things up. Good work!

Beau travail!

Peaceful with a nice progression. Nice approach towards the theme, enjoyed my stay!

Mindspace sounds so goooood. Great melody, and it gets even better when the drums pick up. Repressed Memories was a nice wrap up. Piano was really good. Enjoyed my stay!

I had yet to listen to an entry that had such a remarkable use of motifs. Great quality overall as well, the medieval feelings and JRPG aesthetic were present. Face Your Fear and Fear of God were epic and added dynamic to the whole soundtrack. Well of Wisdom was peaceful and a great ending track. Loved it!

A lot of thought was put into this submission, especially once you read the novel. You also went above and beyond with a music video, wow. I think the fact you didn't use any traditional percs really added creativity to your overall work. I didn't get bored, as predicted. Lots of personality in each track while still preserving cohesion over the whole project. This is a pretty good entry!

In all the submissions that chose the water theme route, I think it's the first time I'm hearing actual wave sounds and I like it so much. Great use of real world sounds for ambience in the other tracks as well. Very nautical, on point with your interpretation. Those strings on Stay Afloat with the thunder in the background really brought the tension and the song to life. Resurface was an epic finale. Great work!

I like your interpretation of the theme and the story you composed around it! On the music side, great work on the drums (especially on Today is the Day!) and bass, and making the whole album feel underwater. I enjoyed my stay!

Great thought put into Illa's Theme. You nailed the feeling you described. Thank You For Everything was such a good wrap, I love the part from 1:29. Nice melodies on all the tracks overall too. Enjoyed it!
