This game was so fun!! The art is so cute, the music had me bopping my head the whole time, and the controls were so smooth. I can tell how much work you put into this. I found the dialogue amusing, and the premise of the game sounds interesting. I wonder who the big slime was. I'm quite excited to play this game when it's fully done!

If I were to give feedback, I noticed the sword respawns if I die and respawn at save point. I could pick it up again but I didn't notice any bugs caused by this. Also, there is no feedback when attacking big slime (not any that I noticed at least). A sound effect or flashing sprite would help convey that the player hit the right spot, but that's something for the full game I suppose.

The only other feedback I have is that it was very short and I'm upset that I cannot play more. The level design was well executed and suits the metroidvania theme extremely well. Honestly amazing job. Keep up the great work!

Thanks so much for your feedback! I'm compiling feedback right now and will uh, need to work on the respawn issue you mentioned. And FWIW on the length of demo...let's just say I didn't quite meet my goal for demo scope, LOL.

What a delightful little game! Definitely one of the best entries.

I really enjoyed the level design and the controls. The moment you get the sword feels really rewarding and the story surrounding the gameplay is giving me very cozy vibes.

Art and sound are also well done, but I think you could push them even further.  You could add some more variation to the textures you use, as they look a bit repetitive, and some more saturated color highlights could also look cool. Another suggestion would be to add some indication of light in the scene. You don't have to go all out, but I think adding some dark gradient effect towards the end of a screen could make it fell a lot more like a dungeon. I'm thinking about something like they have on the ground in this image: Of course, all of this is also a style-choice and personal preference plays a big role.

And again really strong entry, despite minor nitpicks.

Thanks so much for your kind words! I will hopefully have some opportunity to think more on textures/tiles and lighting going forward. (A port from Godot 3-->Godot 4 is likely, so some additional tile set work seems likely at that point.) I will try to return the favor and play Mail Tail sometime this weekend.

Wow this might be the best entry I've played so far. The controls feel amazing. The art/animations are amazing. The music and SFX are amazing. This demo has the makings of the beginning of a real metroidvania with an interesting story and fun gameplay. I would've kept playing if there was more. I literally can't think of anything to complain about.
