Team members
it was only me, I am Dohn Peck, the destroyer of worlds

Software used
Unity, Gimp, Rider, Google colab, Photoroom, Trello, Clipchamp

Use of the limitation
I incorporated a meta-layer into my starting idea of "minigames about health" that forces the player to increase his health, otherwise they lose. I also added a difficulty increase the more you play, which I also interpret as a a way "you can only go up".

Cookies eaten
0, but I ate quite a bit of waffles, which I eat every breakfast. On Sunday I even made a double batch, not on purpose, of course. But I had the final waffle just before I stopped developing and started the exporting and uploading to itch part

Interesting use of the health theme. Maybe my sound was messed up but i couldnt hear anything. Liked how there were two different games within this one

Developer

I had no time to add any sound, sorry

For the mental health the timer kinda made it hard to properly read all the choices they were pretty wordy in some cases. The food eating part was a nice click fest to gain weight lol.  Interesting take on the theme though good job.

Fantastic concept. I also love the artstyle!

Keeping up your mental health is pretty hard. It feels way too realistic.

A good idea, but I don't think it worked too well in execution. I think the difficult curve starts too early and it feels repetitive. However, it was a unique idea and clearly only limited by the time of the jam, so great work!

Developer

yay, some criticisim! Thank you

Developer(+1)

the difficulty curve I shortened because I thought nobody would play for so long, and given as I could only make 2 minigames, it was bound to be repetitive. But maybe I could’ve done some variations on the graphics like some different fridges or different angry people. Hmm

Interesting game

Developer

Interesting in a good or a bad way? ;d

LOL. That bully on the mental health minigame is brutal. Gave me a good chuckle tho. I like the approach to this game as a series of mini games. I'm not totally sure how it fits the limitation, but overall I had fun playing.

The thing I was a little bit scared of when doing this minigame was that the content of the insults and retorts would be too harsh, but I think it turned out okay in the end. The minigame aspect is more for variety rather than conforming to the limitation, but funny thing is that I wanted to make quite a bit more minigames at the start, but then was quickly faced with the reality of how quickly I can pump those out.. ;)

I'm glad you had fun, I was a bit worried that only two minigames wouldn't be enough for the game to work, but it seems two was just enough to get the general idea across!

Concept is very nice. I think the time to read all options in mental health is too short. I like this mini-games and how you think about limitation :) Also it is good to see the difficulty increase. Good job

Yeah... I tried nerfed it before uploading, but it seems it wasn't enough. Thanks for the balance tip!

This was fun! The mental health minigame is the kind of game that's hard to do in a jam because it requires a lot of content, yet it is interesting enough to build on top of it! Had fun!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! You are the first stranger on the internet to ever play any of my games, since this is the first time I have uploaded to a platform like Itch.

Could you clarify what you mean by "yet it is interesting enough to build on top of it"? I didn't quite get what you mean. To build on top of the mental minigame by adding more insults/retorts or to build on top of the whole game by adding more minigames?

Your comment has now plastered a smile on my face : -)

Now it can't go away. My facial muscles. It hurts! ;)

Hi! I meant that the fundamental idea is strong enough that you could add more minigames and features to turn the game into a full release :)

Developer

Thanks! I saw there are some game jams on itch focused on improving upon a previous jam game, so your suggestion may actually come into fruition!

I like Itch that it shows me that you are also a part of this jam and even showed me a link to your game right from the comment! I played your game, but I seriously don't understand how to play. Even with reading the description and the tutorial, my ooga-booga brain just can't comprehend it.

I wish it had a better tutorial. The premise seems so interesting, it just hurts my heart to not be able to play it properly. :(
