I share the same thought as Raptorspank! The artwork is impressive, but this feels like I'm playing Dark Souls, the hitboxes are rough and every time I fail I instantly have to restart.
Other than that, impressive submission. The tutorials made it easier to play
I really love the artwork, the dragon is adorable and "cavesweet cave" was such a funny touch. Same with the other commenters, the hitboxes were rough on the two height logs and were basically impossible to make it pass without fire breath, and I only saw a pickup for that once. It would also be good to be a bit more forgiving with the hits, as it felt like one-hit-death every time which can be pretty brutal. That said the actual controls are solid and the charge felt really fun to use.
Cool game! Art and sound were cute, and gameplay was fun. I agree with the other commenter that the hitboxes could be a bit more forgiving. I would also like if the pace of each run got quicker a bit faster. Great game, especially like the people animation with the wavy arms :)
This would make sense to balance it - the pace increases quicker but hitboxes are more forgiving. Great advice ta.
Congrats on your first game jam! The dragon character is really cute and the style of everything is super charming. I especially love the graphics when he's powered up and has flames coming out of his eyes.
The game itself is pretty fun too. Some of the hit boxes on the logs are pretty punishing though. It felt a bit unfair at times when I felt like I cleared a jump, and the log suddenly pushed me all the way back and I lost instantly. I felt like I should have been able to get a second try and not lose that quickly sometimes. So in my playthrough I saw the crying animation a lot haha. I liked that one a lot too. I really appreciate the attention to detail and variety! Nice work!!
Yep I definitely didn't go back and look at the hitboxes at all, was not sure how high to place them so that's helpful to know for the future to be more forgiving. I really enjoyed leaning in to the art style.
Really cute game, I like the twist of humans being the greedy one lol :p
