Cool game! For a moment I hoped it was made with GameBoy Studio and it was a real GameBoy ROM. You've nailed controls, so it was fun even on a kb.
I dig this. Big time ^__^
The game was excellently put together and the overall feel is exceptional. However I did not get on well at all with the keyboard layout and found it overly complicated the gameplay. Once I switched to controller I had a great time and found the movement mechanics to be almost perfect!
The enemy position and timing was very well planned and meant you needed to be quick and not sloppy. However the enemies looking up felt very cheap when they caught you. I had a few instances where I could of sworn I said "Wtf are his eyes in the back of his head?!"
Overall this game had a very retro feel and the sounds were very well matched to the gameplay. The music was very cool too and had a sweet little edge to it. Loved it!
Thanks for leaving detailed feedback, it is much appreciated! I'm glad you were able to enjoy it with a controller.
Regarding the butlers looking up, their field of vision is somewhat reduced for the direction they're not facing, but I agree that it could be reduced even further to prevent situations like you mentioned.
Thanks again, and I look forward to seeing your video playthrough!
Excellent presentation and love the art style. Found a small bug with the guard looking up while I was hanging on the chandelier. As I dropped while he was looking up, he registered as seeing me. Probably a one-off timing issue.
Thanks for playing and leaving feedback! That bug is interesting. Were you to the left or right of him?
To the left of the chandelier as I was falling down with him looking up. For some more info, this was the area with the guard on top of the chandelier shifting his gaze away from a gem platform. The other guard on the floor below was not facing me and walking in the other direction at the time the bug happened.
This bug has now been fixed, thanks for bringing it to my attention.
My feedback is over there at the game page, I can basically just agree with mimuria.
And I hope that cookie number is a binary, which still makes it somewhat scary :O
This is a nice retro game, I enjoyed playing it a lot, I didn't saw any particular flaw in it :)
