Wow the presentation is top notch and the whole aesthetic is filled with style. Loved it!

My only nitpick is that the controls felt a bit stiff, but otherwise a really enjoyable and inspiring submission!

Very fitting music art and sfx! I had some issues in the beginning because there are quite a lot of parameters to take care of and, but slower speed helped in the beginning. Good job!

really nice polish, aesthetics , music and sfx -- especially for a gamejam, excellent work. Love the overall vibe of it. Good work!

Developer

Thank you for playing and feedback! Glad you enjoyed it. :D

A very visually strong game for a game jam - great work! I liked the idea of using radiation clouds to level up your abilities while downgrading others, especially the green ones - things that give me more bullets are always the most fun. It wasn't very clear what they did though without looking at the description, especially since I couldn't see attack power / fire rate on screen, so it would've been nice for some more clarity there. The ship felt a bit heavy to control as well, and like many people have said, it was a little slow and there wasn't much reason to not hold down space the whole way through. I did really like the variety in enemy types though, and how each level added more challenge than the one before, so it didn't get repetitive.

As for the graphics, they were stunning, and I loved them! The whole aesthetic of the game was really nice and I really liked the space theming. The backgrounds were nice, if a bit messy at points, like the galaxies/nebulae in the background, which was a bit jarring compared to how clean the rest of the graphics were. I did really like the rest of the graphics though - the ships and blocks looked very nice and the animations were a nice addition too. The sound design and music were good as well and they helped add a bit more feedback to the gameplay, which was good. It was a really great game overall, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing it, so excellent work on it!

I do have plans to add more to the interface in regards to fire rate and damage.  Will also be improving the speed of ship and scrolling. For the nebulae, I was running out of time and rushed myself on those., I probably should have just left them out until I could make them look better, but at the same time I didn't want to leave the background to just parallaxing stars.
Thanks for playing and for the excellent feedback. I'm glad you enjoyed it.  Also I want to buy your tileset  for Fission lol!

I actually enjoyed the slow pace because I have very low reaction speed. What I did miss was some kind of clear marker that an object/obstacle/enemy had been hit, or rather, that the hit had actually affected it and not just absorbed the impact. Figuring out which clouds did what took a bit of experimenting and could maybe do with some kind of clarity as well, if only at least initially. Otherwise very solid!

Developer

There is a sound fx to indicate that the enemies have been hit, but I think I made them so weak that nearly every enemy dies before being fulling on screen which doesn't allow for all the visuals to be seen. So I will probably be increasing the enemies hit points slightly.

Absolutely wonderful aesthetics, sound effects and art combine to make a wonderful experience. Gameplay-wise, agree with the others that the pace of the game is too slow in the first level.

I like the idea of speeding up the scroll speed, maybe make the difference between speed with spacebar down even greater so that the player can really feel like they're boosting thru space. Would also help with the issue above.

Developer

Thank you for your comments :D I am definitely going to increase the speed of the ship and the scrolling.

I loved the retro artsyle. Two little changes I would make are making the game a bit faster and being able to move diagonally, but overall the game is cool.

Developer(+1)

Once the jam is over I am going to implement gamepad controls so that eight-direction can be used. The keyboard didn't work so well for eight direction. Glad you like the retro style. Thank you!

Nice game, and the concept is cool, but I thought its pacing is very slow. I almost surrender in the first stage because I thought there wouldn't have enemies.

With this exception, I liked everything in your game, nice job.

Developer

Was it to slow with spacebar pressed? This seems to be a common comment. So just trying to get an idea of what is too slow.

Submitted(+1)

I played the game pressing space everytime, it makes the velocity better. But the problem for me was the long stage 1 with only the asteiroids to disturb.

I really like this art and the game's concept). But, i think, the ship is too slow:)

Developer(+1)

Were you using the spacebar to speed up? Just wondering if that is what you consider too slow or was it the base movement speed.

Smart concept and very good visuals, gj !

Thank you!

nice graphics, but ship movement seens a little slow. good game tho

Developer(+1)

When you say it was to slow, where you using the spacebar to speed up? Just trying to get an idea of what is too slow since this is a common comment on the game. Thank you :D

Submitted(+1)

i meant the movement of the ship without pressing spacebar. :)

++ level design is really good. Objects to collect etc..
