How was your experience with Mini Jam?
As the first game that Samalander has ever made, and the first game that Tynamo has ever released to the public, we don’t have much experience, but the community was really nice and we had a lot of fun. We will definitely be doing another!

Great concept, and very well executed! The core loop of gradual investment in upgrades to allow you to go deeper and deeper was great, and the upgrades themselves felt well balanced with a noticeable improvement each time

congratulations to you 2, the idea of the boat was very clever, it's a pity that the camera does not follow the player when we go too far to the right (unless I misunderstood something), I also notice a good work on the project page which is very complete, I put this game in my top 3 games of this jam :D

Hey there! Thanks for ranking our game as one of your top 3, it means a lot.

I went ahead and fixed the bug where the player can go offscreen for the web version.

Proper fun idea! The art style is also really cute, and the music really fits the atmosphere you created. Took me a little while to figure out what I had to do, but that's because I didn't read the description ha.

Small problem with the bubbles, where they'll move if the player moves up / down. Making the process of catching fish a little awkward. But otherwise, a really solid game, especially for your first game jam.

Thanks! The bubble glitch is something that we'll be working on fixing. I really appreciate your comment about the music! I had never made music before, and made it last minute. Since it's a repeating loop that only lasts like 10 seconds, I was worried it would get repetitive.

Edit: Bubble moving with player bug is mostly fixed when the player moves down, when the player moves up, the bubble accelerates a bit. I also improved the bubble's collisions

Edit 2: Bubble glitch is fully fixed

The game is really good with its upgrade system, concept, and use of the limitation, the only bad thing is the quirkiness of the controls. Loved the multiple depths and the variety of creatures!

Developer

Thanks so much! The game was made in Pico8, so along with other limitations, it only supports arrrow keys and X and Z for buttons, since it’s supposed to be kind of like a retro game console. You should be able to play it with a controller or joystick. I really appreciate the feedback!
