It’s an excellent concept! I love the usage of ladders - a combination of horizontal and vertical movement opens up some cool traversal options. However the execution leaves more to be desired. The platforms disappearing after a fixed amount of time from its placement is a poor design choice in my opinion, as this means the player has to place it last second - so any setup and anticipation in “can he cross that?” is lost. It would be better if it disappeared a fixed amount of time after the first contact, not after placement.
Also, the collision needs more work, as the blind man can’t seem to walk over if something is 1 pixel higher than him. Coupled with the moving camera, it can be quite frustrating to place things precisely. The number of platforms available also don’t show up until the first one is placed; this should be shown at all times even before the blind man starts walking.
Overall, I see a good potential in this game. If more work was put into it, I’m sure it could be awesome. Good luck!
Thanks for the kind words! we were crunched for time so we couldn't refine the finer details of the game. After the jam, we'll incorporate two modes for your suggestion regarding the timer. We wanted an element of time for the 'rushed' feel so we did not create it as a setup.
As for the collisions of the platform, that is something we'll surely be fixing :)
The concept is a really cool idea, took me a sec to find out you posted the controls below but that was really fun to play! Some issues I had were the initial black box which I think has a hitbox that might be a little too tight although it didn't take much to adjust to. The approach was really cool and I did indeed feel rushed.
Thanks a lot! :D . We'll be fixing the hitboxes for sure. Glad you liked it!
heh I managed to get across. Cool idea. Took me a few tries to realise I had to press the number pad to place another tile. Really liked the concept, I think with some more polishing this could be pretty sweet! Nice work
Congrats! :D Glad you liked it. We'll work on a more interactive UI post-jam :)
I like the idea. Game mechanic simple and fun, but control need some polishing it's a bit hard to place platform while camera moving :)
Thanks :D and yeah, reworking the controls is definitely something we'll do.
Finding the controls kinda sucked. even displaying the button to switch to each tile slot would have helped.
Having to press a number on the keyboard before placing each tile sucked. It would have been better to use player inputs to switch the type of tile selected. allowing the player to place multiple tiles with less work.
Having the guy just barely clip the edge of a road also sucked.
I do like the concept. Good work for a jam game.
Thanks, we'll try to make the controls and UI better :)
great idea for a game wish it had a better execution hopefully you'll improve it as the player sometimes collides with the environment and can't move, good job guys!
Thanks! Yes we will definitely fix that collider bug in an update :D
Graphics are decent and it has potential, but for now it feels difficult to play. The platforms can get the character stuck if you place it just a little too high and the platforms disappear too quickly.
Thanks for your feedback, we will definitely work on fixing the platform bug
Cool concept!
Thanks :D
the controls don't work too well, i put a platform on the scene and then i coudn't put another in time.
the visuals are good, i liked the music and the concept is amazing!
Thanks for your feedback, we will work on improving the controls in future updates
I like the concept, but in my opinion the presentation could be improved. As @WaveCollapse suggested, having the option to place all the platforms first could be a good idea. I also think that you could fix some hitboxes (that sometimes causes the blind to walk on air). I also think more fitting music could be chosen to fit the artstyle.
thank you for your feedback. We wanted to make the game a but harder so we made it so you have to place tiles while in play... We will definately fix the hitboxes in updates
In that case, i think you should at least first zoom out and show the whole scene so that the player has some expectations of what's coming up.
We have already included that option, in the scene before the level starts. You can drag the scene and also zoom out to see the full level 😊
Good idea, but very finicky. The player is unable to walk up an increase of height as little as 1 pixel, so every successive platform has to be equal to the previous height or slightly lower. Also placing the platforms as the camera moves is very disorienting and makes placement difficult. I would've preferred the ability to place all the platforms first and then pressed play.
thanks for your feedback. We wanted to make the game harder by placing tiles while playing... We will definately fix the platform bug.
