I tried to tell a story without dialogue or text. Also, the player is on an evil planet that sucks them of health which factors into the "Rush" theme.

The music was so atmospheric and alluring, the location was spooking with beautiful environmental art, All carefully place to add up to a final vibe that sent shivers down my spine and I ventured out more to explore every nook and cranny.

The main character is adorable and badass, with strong vibrant colours, bold posture making her very iconic. So iconic I get some Samus vibes, but in this case, I am totally digging it and it feels more like a homage. Combat feels a little floaty, when hit I would float back a little and it was a little jarring, so could use some work.

I would prefer the camera to be placed a little higher, as a rule when playing platformers in general you want to see what is beneath you before you walk off a platform, otherwise, it can generally tend to feel a little claustrophobic, it didn't cause me too many issues but it's worth noting going forward.

I really liked this game, the controls need a little tightening up but otherwise a really solid submission.

Hey thanks so much for the detailed review and for the tips! That's very helpful...I have a lot to learn and I'll take all this on board for my next one. Really liked your game as well, it was such a fun idea and really nicely polished and executed. Something to aspire to for sure. Thanks!

these pixel graphics are great the soundtrack matches well with the environment you created parabens. A tip on Rigidbody 2D in unity put 'collision Detection: continuous ' to avoid problems as character enters tiles. The characters' attacks had a very wide range as he and melee would have to have a smaller range. And for one person doing everything! Congratulations, I know how difficult it is to do what you did alone in a short time.

Hey thanks so much for playing and for the tips! Yeah I really needed to tweak the combat but I ran out of time, I was trying to fit so much in. Just to clarify I didn't make the art, but I did do the music. :) Learned a lot I can apply to my next gamejam so thanks so much!

Loved your game by the way, really smooth and polished, I enjoyed playing it a lot.

I enjoyed the visuals and music. I found the gameplay too easy because the reach of the attack was so long i could defeat all the enemies without getting hit. Adding a enemy that shoots a projectile would of helped the action because most of the enemies just floated in an area waiting to be killed.

Pretty cinematic. The music sets the ton/mood. seems like a nice little Metroid -like experience. the visual indicators helped me understand what was happening in game like buttons and meters to charge so I wasn't lost much.  Didn't quite get the health drain part initial until I read it in the description. Maybe one picture of your character in pain upon landing might help communicate that but otherwise well executed and fun.

the air of mystery, dark visuals with sound track created an amazing atmosphere for this game, my only problem was that it's too hard to figure out what to do, i gone to the first computer, took the data, on the other computer i couldn't interact with it i dunno why, but it's my only complain, everything was fine with this game.

And what an AMAZING pixel art!

Developer(+1)

thanks so much for playing. Yeah you're totally right it was quite unclear. I hope to improve that on my next game!

The atmosphere and art for this game is excellent, I love it! It sets a mysterious and eerie tone. The animations are also impeccable. The gameplay however, leaves more to be desired.

I couldn’t figure out the controls until I read the itch.io page, which shouldn’t be the case because that’s the point of the limitation - I should be able to play it without the need for text. There needs to be some indication or tutorial in the game. I interacted with all 3 computers but then there doesn’t seem to be an ending. I don’t see anywhere to go and returning to the ship did nothing. The attacks don’t feel right. I didn’t like that the animation freezes and I’m not able to jump while standing on an elevator.

With that said, I did enjoy the game a bit just from the exploration and feel of the game. If the gameplay is spiced up and improved, I’m sure this could be released as a full game. There is a lot of potential for it to be awesome. Good luck!

Hey thanks so much for playing. You're definitely right. I unfortunately had to rush a lot of elements to get the game done in time and I'm pretty fresh to gamedev. I really wanted the menus to be more immersive - I only had about 5 minutes before the deadline.

There are some updates in the WebGL build, if you played the download version it doesn't have indicators on the items for what button to press, and you can't jump on the moving platforms (but you can on the web build).

As for the ending, you have to return the computers once you have all 3 to the basement area and jump on that little platform to 'revive' your friend. But it totally wasn't clear at all.

All in all, I have a lot to learn and I really appreciate you taking the time to comment!

[?] < what does this mean? I thought it was broken until it loaded. does it mean loading? if so … would be better. an animated … would have been extra points. A blank screen would have been better.

[x] < what does this mean?, I assumed it was telling me to press x. but that didn’t do anything.

The intro cut scene I assumed I was supposed to be controlling the ship or something. but nothing i pressed seemed to do anything.

After wondering around I assumed that the crystals where to refuel the ship. i pressed every key on the keyboard and i could’t pick them up. at that point the oxygen bar ran out.

Anyway. the art lovely and the music was immersive.

Hey thanks for your comments. All good points. I definitely bit off more than I could chew and ended up having to rush some of those elements to get it done in time. [x] turns a switch which opens a door. It makes a little sound, but it needed to be clearer! And if you hold down [x] on the computers it powers them up. But I totally agree it wasn't very clear.

The aim of the game is to power up 3 computers, then go back to the platform at the bottom and you can bring your friend back to life with the 'memories' you have collected from the computer.

I'm pretty new to gamedev so still figuring it all out, unfortunately I spent all my time just trying to get the character moving and the level created. Lots to improve on for next time. :)

Congrats on getting it submitted tho! Seriously Getting something playable for a jam is already an achievement. And again the art and music feel wonderful.

I totally feel that. So far I have tried to do more then is reasonable every jam I have done. In my previous jam I attempted a voxel game (with help). 95% of the time was spent getting basic mechanics working. Finished the only level at 1 in the morning before submission day.

My goal this time was to make a more polished game. Got like 50% of what I was aiming for.

I loved the art and setting of the game,
After I picked up all the computers and went to my ship, a dialouge showin "---" showed up for a few seconds. And then a white dot in the middle.
I assume I lost, but it wasn't very clear.

It was fun either way!

Developer

Hehe you finished the game! I really ran out of time to make anything concrete, it was a real race against time. :P

Really nice concept. Loved the art style!

Amazing art! I enjoyed exploring the world to find the computers :)

The combat was pretty nice although for a melee attack the player could hit the enemies from a longer distance than shown in the animation, which removed some of the action of the combat as the player out-ranges the monsters easily.

However, the enemies had great animations!

Overall great submission!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing. Yeah you're totally right. I needed some extra time to fix that up, definitely an area to work on as I haven't really done any combat before! I'll definitely keep trying to improve on that. Really appreciate your feedback!

You're welcome! Keep up the great work!

Excellent selection of art and music and I loved the dust/smoke effect in the background. the game reminded me a bit of Alien on Genesis. One small note on platforms, I think it would be better to have the colliders just on the surface so that you can jump through and land on top of them. Great project mate!

Developer(+1)

thats a great point re: the platforms. Wish I had a bit more time, I had an endless list of stuff I wanted to try hehe. And really glad you liked the music, was a race against time in the last 20 minutes to quickly write something ! Thanks for checking out my game. :)

Great atmosphere and love the art style. Lots of animation and great presentation for just three days. The movement was a bit slow while falling down, stun by enemies lasts too long for my taste. It's easy to get lost while exploring the cave because there is little variation (yet). Took me a while to figure out what the skull does and if it is activated or not. Other than that, I enjoyed what you created there =)

Developer

thanks so much for your feedback. I definitely need to learn how to build maps -- I'm still a real noob at this, but figuring it out slowly. Really glad you enjoyed my game.   Learned lots for the next one!

This is way too good for a 3 days game jam. As others have said, the combat is a bit clunky but otherwise really great!

Developer

hey I appreciate that. Yeah you're definitely right, that's something I ran out of time for, I tried to tackle a bit more than I could take on I think! definitely learned a lot for the next one.

The art and sounds are so good. When it comes to the atmosphere it reminded me of Metroid and I love that. The game itself has a good concept. I think it would have been a lot better if it was a bit more clear where to go(I know, easier said than done) and the hitbox on the swing attack is really big so it was a bit confusing at first. Still, good job!

Developer

awesome thanks for the feedback -- you mean on the player, how they can damage enemies without being too close to them? I definitely would need to do some tweaking on the colliders and damaging etc, and probably more interaction for the player. Really appreciate you playing - I loved your game, just played it earlier.

Concept was really cool and the visuals were really well made. I liked the background music but like the other comments mentioned i was a bit lost till i read the comments after the first attempt.

Submitted

Really like the look and sound of this game!  However, I was a bit lost.  From reading the other comments, I now realize that I was supposed to hold down X on each of the computers.  I tried dragging the slider with the mouse, which did move the slider along, but it didn't cause anything to happen, so I gave up.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for taking the time to check it out. Totally understand, it was quite unclear and a bit glitchy also. I've made a few quick changes which I think will make it a lot easier to figure out based on the feedback, (but I think it could still be better). Was really running out of time on this one, and still pretty noob ! Looking forward to checking yours out!! Thanks again!

Vibes and visuals are among the best I have played so far in this jam. The BG reminded me of Out the Somewhere from miniboss studios.

Developer(+1)

really appreciate that. Did my best with the BG, only had about 10 mins to quickly whip something together as I was running out of time big time! Made a few changes in the most recent build as well, added some fog and cleaned up some of the effects. Thanks for taking the time, looking forward to checking yours out!

Loved the game! The art was pretty cool, the only thing that threw me off was that I had to hold down x cause the bar didn't start loading straight away.

Submitted

Love the concept!

The jumps are a bit unresponsive on the platforms and its not obvious that triggering the statues opens the doors. Also the computers take awhile to load so its not obvious that I needed to hold down X right away

Awesome use of the art, the concept and limitations are on point and I love the spooky ending!

Nice submission!

Developer

thanks so much for your feedback. I made some changes based on your feedback so hopefully things are a lot smoother now! :)
