This is brilliant ! The art direction, being able to choose where the enemies are going to spawn, the mix, everything is awesome !

I love this idea, truly unique and the art style has great readability. Also liked being able to choose the spawn point for the enemies as it's an extra layer of strat.

If i was nitpicking the player collision can be hard to predict when your shooting gaps, and the music can get a tad repetitive, but can sympathise since Bosca Ceoil (guessing was used) can limit you to making looping tracks under time constraint.

With a few more levels this could make a good mobile game. Had fun, awesome entry!

Developer

Thanks for playing man :). And also, yes. I used Bosca ceoil for the music XD

The 3D / pixel art mix works really well and makes the game stand apart. By looking at your gifs on the Discord I thought the game would play a bit differently, where the enemies would spawn in and you'd have to fish them out before the screen becomes filled with projectiles. I think the current system is also good, liked that you have the ability to choose where they will spawn (although it makes it easy to cheese the game). Game feeling is great, and the speed lines when moving are a small touch that goes a long way. The music is a bit annoying though. Overall a super-solid entry!

Developer

Thanks for trying it man :). Really appreciate the feedback as well.

I knew players would be able to abuse the current system XD. I felt I'd leave it this way though since players can basically choose their own difficulty for the game. Anyway, thanks for playing :)

Really nice game and concept!

Really good concept, highly readable and with tight controls!
The game is addictive, interesting, and the idea of placing the turrets for each wave is really original.

The tutorial/main menu is a great element, as well as the visuals being 2D/3D.

My only complaints are that it's a shame there is only 3 wave, especially considering you had all the elements to make it random each X points (I suppose), and the music, (as the quick loop, in all honesty, can get quickly annoying).

Amazing jam entry!

Thanks for playing man :). I ran out of time by that point when I finished the third wave, so I thought I'd make it endless from there XD

really creative concept - though is "fishing a genre"? 😉 I'm joking of course. It works really well!

You know me, I want to see way more bullets, and maybe a little less health. If you were going to make it a full game (you should, I'd pay for it), you need your UI to be a lot cleaner. I didn't actually know I had health until the second play through! Yellow on green is not a good colour combo. Maybe try a big health bar, and tie it to the player's position. I hate UI in corners, nobody ever looks there!

but overall it's a great job. I love your style, man.

Developer

Thank you for playing :). The UI was kinda last minute which is why it's the way it is XD.

Pretty interesting concept. I love the way you got a pretty cool/unique look out of minimalistic art by mixing 2D and 3D!

Thanks for playing man :)

Neat idea! Love the mechanics that, while simple, are addictive enough! Good job!

Neat game idea, i like that youre able to choose where to place turrets. I did find it hard as a colourblind person to tell the difference between the two fish so maybe the turret and points fish having different designs would have helped. Once i got the hang of how it worked tho it was great fun :)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Thanks for playing man :). I'm also sorry for not taking colour-blindness into account. If I make another build I'll remember about it :)

Loved the fact that you get to choose your own spots for the "towers"!  The gameplay felt very balanced and the art and telegraphing was great to. Excellent game!

Thanks for playing :)

Brilliant Man, the Genres u mix are both hilarious and work amazing together.

i wonder if the game could play better if it was completely top down  so you could better tell where you are but i dont really know

Thanks for playing man :)

Great idea. Why does the health go below 0?

Submitted(+1)

Nice game! After my first round I didn't quite get how I should play - the bullets always seemed to get me... but well, i can place them myself. This strategy aspect kinda gives the game a third genre! Well done :)

Thanks for playing man :).

Had an absolute blast with this one! Started to feel like a pro dodging bullets and catching fish, and I really liked that there was an element of strategy mixed in with how you caught the wave starting fish/jellies. Great work!

Honestly nothing to really criticize about, apart from that you'll occasionally get multiple points from one fish. (I assume it's a spawning issue) The colours are bright and attractive, movement is fluid, when you get hit you don't feel cheated as it's 100% your mistake, etc. Overall a very good experience, you've done well.

Curious as to why you created 3 lanes, rather than compete randomization?

Also had a little fun with the game files as seen below.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing man :).

Yes, if at all you get multiple points at once it is because the fish spawn at the same place.

As for not having complete randomisation, I felt that it would be easier for the player to get into the game if there were some pre-defined paths instead of having everything be random.

And that image is honestly kinda funny XD. Though I imagine the game would have taxed your CPU in this state XD
