Castles in space? Why not? The planets' physics felt wront but the rest was ok!

An interesting game for sure, with a lot of visual effects that I got no idea how to do.
However the actual graphics felt weaker than the rest of the game.
1) for the castle either change the cell size from 16x16 to 14x14 or expand the cells to make them properly fit together
2) you got those really cool composite space wizards - do something similar for the main character and planets; you can then also make a really cool death animation for the player exploding into multiple parts :)
3) the castle walls are too bright and unpleasing to look at
4) the meteors... they don't look good
Also, a minor thing - if then dying your body collides with other things that would kill you, the death sound is played again, which probably shouldn't happen.

I think there are some interesting ideas here.

I found the switch from planet physics to space physics to be jarring. I think I would have preferred space physics except when I was actually touching the surface of a planet, but then there'd have to be some kind of gravity in the space mode and that's a bit tricky with all the different planets. Dunno. It also felt odd that I maintained momentum after landing, just increasing the friction as some others have suggested might fix that.

Very cool game. Maybe I'd increase the planet's friction when you walk over them.

Also, very cool that you uploaded the game's source code, I'm learning Godot since just a few months back so I'll certainly check it out! Thanks!

Thanks for your feedback. The whole project is a kind of messy since this is a Jam, but you can take a look at the shaders and also the physics of the planets to get an idea of how that works. :) If you have any questions you can contact me on Twitter man.

Thanks!

Cool idea and well made. I'm not so keen on the fact that you continue to rotate around the planets when on the surface. But overall well done!

Thank You for the feed back! :)

Enjoyed the story and flinging myself off of planets atmosphere. The visuals were pretty intense - I felt like I was tripping balls. Great job!
Remember, don't be a Larry

Developer

Haha if you felt like you're tripping then I did my job wth the shaders :P

Solid presentation and high challenge. I respect the fun you had with the black hole physics, even if they were hard to get consistent. Huge frustration point for me was how the game aligned me towards the planets the instant I touched the atmospheres. Made it nigh impossible to make use of their gravity wells in an intelligent way. By the end I was pretty desperately throwing myself at the level repeatedly until I beat it.

Super Fun and challenging. Definitely check it out. Small issue with lag on the chicken level where i should have died, but it would take a second to process, but it could be from me playing in the browser
