Starskate's itch.io pageHow does your game fit the theme?
It explains what Conor really hit when he crashed with his bike. Also Skateboards are better than bikes. Also Magical Girls.

First and foremost, the art in this game is beautiful (especially the character sprites)! It amazes me that all this art was completed within the span of 3 days. Cute voice acting as well.
As for the gameplay, it took me far too long to figure out the full extent of the freedom that the player has, in moving the character (maybe this could have been made more clear from the start). This freedom does add some spice to the gameplay, as you are able to perform maneuvers to slow down before an obstacle, and move the mouse very far to make a leap over large puddles.
As others have pointed out, the hitboxes do feel a little funky, on top of the fact that obstacle-hits stack quickly, which, at times, makes for a quick death (some invincibility frames would have been nice in those instances). Maybe this is the game journalist in me, but perhaps a full-reset of the lives would have been nice, whenever the character travels to space.
All around, this game is a gem, and I sincerely wish it makes the top 20.
Great job! mouse controls feel a little unintuitive for moving forward and backwards, but nothing too bad. Hitboxes do feel a bit weird, and i feel like the amount of i-frames was wayyy too short. Amazing art!
Really cute and easy to play! Love it!
Amazing game! Loved both the gameplay and the art. STARPOWER!
Thanks so much! Starpower!☆☆☆
I really like the art! The game is easy to pick up and get going. If I have one nitpick, it's that the hitboxes feel a bit off on things like the asteroids.
Thank you! Glad you like the art! And yeah, we could have improved the hotboxes more, but ran out of time. ^^;;
Clean and simple gameplay with amazing visuals and audio. On browser the canvas seems to be the wrong size?
Thank you very much! :D
Yeah, we weren't able to make the canvas scale depending on screen or browser size. But I think it works if you zoom in or out?
I love the unique twist on the theme, even if I am starting to realize endless runners are common lol. The game is quite hard, and I have a terminal skill issue :(. You seem to have an issue with your web build similar to what I had, 1. make sure your canvas's in unity(? is it?) are set to scale properly and not constant pixel, and make sure your resolution/scale settings on itch isn't manual (assuming you ARE using unity). I love the art, and again concept quite fun. I am capping the audio score for using audio assets, this is my general rule to make sure devs that made their own audio assets get higher scores so please don't take offense, but your sounds were well used. Would have liked to see a restart button, and maybe some options they always make the experience better. Also the controls are very hard, you so easily run into puddles or one of a thousand Connors. When I got starpower I immediately oofed myself. So maybe make it a little slower control and less stuff going on at once at some parts. But great job! Really. Hope you keep creating :D
Yea capping the audio score is fair. We did do our own voiceacting though, if you want you can give us points for that :D Thank you for playing !
I so wish there was more categories so I feel like I can more fairly rate games lol. Like making fun and game design different from eachother, and similar for music and sound effects
Thank you for the submission!
Summary: As soon as I reached the Starpower State for the first time, I watched the magical girl crash face first into an asteroid and cut to the Family Guy death pose. That juxtaposition is one of the funniest moments of this whole GameJam for me. Regardless, this submission's winning trait is it's artstyle. It is GORGEOUS, and extremely impressive for how limited the time was. The overall gameplay was somewhat finnicky and inconsistent, such as taking damage from puddles despite being mid-jump animation, but otherwise responded well to the mouse movement. Such freedom of control has been a rarity thus far, and it stood out. Congratulations to your team for this wonderful gem!
Thanks so much for this kind comment! Sorry that you crashed immediately after turning into a Magical Girl, but I'm glad it got a good laugh! XD The artist is also super pleased to hear such amazing words for the Artstyle! It's her unique style and she worked hard to get everything done on time!
