Nice job. I liked the aesethics and pace of the game. I think the parrallax effect is a bit too fast and sort of distracted me from what was happening on screen and I think it would have been cool to have another ability or enemy to avoid. Still this very cool to see a cyberpunk twist on the genre!

Yeah I did feel sometimes that the speed was a little hypnotic, not sure if that's a good thing or not. Thanks for trying it out though! I'll add some proper gameplay later.

I am an absolute sucker for a good cyber aesthetic so loved this. Couple small critiques, it felt like there was never really a reason to do the gravity flip since you could jump over every obstacle. Also, i dont think i could die, i definitely had like -3 lives at one point. The boxes also sped up at a different rate to the road you're driving on so that looked a bit off. Still super fun, would love to see it expanded upon!

Developer

Yup, totally unfinished concept haha. I'll touch it up later and make an actual game out of it. Thanks for the kind words!

this is the first game i've played from the jam so far and my immediate impression was that it just jumps straight into the game without warning, and it took me a second to figure out what i was meant to be doing.

the jump and double jump have a really snappy and polished feel to them, and i really liked the colourful spritework for the cityscape in the back. i couldn't figure out how to use the charge (dash) or switch gravity though until i checked the page, the gravity does feel similarly sharp and cool but i didn't understand why i needed it? and the dash felt less smooth compared to the other movements.

after a few seconds in i was unsure if there was something i was meant to be looking forward to, didn't understand what the point of the lives were (they just went to the negatives?) and didn't get a sense of progression. i only got up to one colour change of the scenery which looked pretty but i didn't get why i got there and if anything else was actually changing at all.

the link to the theme also feels a bit weak, nothing about the mechanics or visuals really lean into cycling very much, was it meant to be ironmouse pink? i'm sure you're already aware of these flaws though, and the movement did feel nice and fun. good luck on the next patch.

Yeah it's very much unfinished. The flip was going to be necessary for "heavy traffic" where either the top or the bottom was going to be substantially harder to ride through. Hopefully after the jam I can get around to polishing this up. Glad you had some fun though!

The idea here is really great! It looks and sounds slick, I'd definitely enjoy playing more if it gets a bit more time in the oven.

I'm glad you had some fun! The speed was the best part about it to be honest.

I liked the idea, the gravity flipping was cool, though perhaps a little tricky to time correctly. I guess a (motor)cycle technically fits the theme!

An idea like this could really become something you get lost in the flow of if it was expanded upon! Nice idea 👍

Developer

Thanks! When I have time later this week I'm going to patch it to be more of a proper game, but I'll keep this original scuffed version around until the jam ends.

Awesome effort! It started out straight into the game loop so by the time I figured out what was going on I was already at -2 lives.

Once I got the hang of it though, I was able to dodge everything, flipping gravity and doing double jump charge tricks. Doesn't seem like there is an end (unless I needed to go for longer, or the negative lives locked me out of it), but nice work either way!

Wow! Thanks! I'm glad you had at least some fun with it. If I'd had a bit more time I could've made a proper game of it but I appreciate the kind words regardless!
