Movie scene description (plus video link if possible!)
This game is inspired by several elements from Close Encounters of the Third Kind:
- the iconic Devils Tower, which obsess characters along the movie,
- that also iconic and obsessing 5 notes music,
- the climax, when aliens encounters humans at that place, with the help of lights and music.

Made my Top 5!
Thanks for your video guys!
Neat toy! I included it in my Movie Game Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to check it out! :)
Thanks Jupiter for playing my game (well, sort of (: )
More of an experience than a game I think. nice art and cool sound really fun to tinker with.
That background art is really quite stunning. I enjoyed fiddling around in the menus quite a lot even though I kept getting confused. I didn't manage to improve on the original iconic tune, of course! Well done.
Confusing at first, since I didn't know what to do, but once I've figured that out it was quite a nice tool to fiddle with. I really liked the famous 5 note tune that's in there. It brought back memories.
Indeed ;) I just love that movie. It's also rather nice that today the 5 notes tune's still familiar, perhaps more than the movie itself. And thanks for the let's play! It's always a great feeling to watch someone enjoying my job, even if rather unfinished.
It was neat realising I was messing with a sort of famitracker/drum machine with extra options for lights, palettes etc.. but I think after that point I just wanted some clear labels so that I could make a song properly heh
either way it was a nice and unique little gem to discover among the jam's entries, kudos :)
Thanks! Unlabeled buttons were was both a will to add confusion, and the result of lack of time. I too would have liked to add editing options like del/add note or silence a step (it's on the 1st tune but can't be changed). For some other project most certainly :)
Spent more time than intended playing this as i kept discovering bew things to tweak and play with. Nice inspired piece from one of my favorite movies.
Thank you, glad you liked it! Favorite of mine too, I've grown up with it, one watch a year is the very least!
Really impressed with the scope of what you attempted here, just a shame you didn't have enough time to complete it.
The music "editor" was clever (especially with Pico8).
Plus I loved all the hidden/special menu items and the effects they had on the game and UI.
Look forward to playing again when it's finished (e.g. post-jam) - IF you plan to come back to it, that is.
Great stuff, as always. :D
Thanks Paul! Yeah my interest got a bit trapped into generating sound & music at runtime with Pico-8. That's definitely a thing I'd like to dig more, and how I can make it keeping its tempo to begin with! The UI was fun too, esp. with the focus of losing the player... :D
Great looking game/toy. Had a lot of fun figuring out what each of the buttons did.
