Cute game! I included it in my compilation video series of the Ludum dare 42 compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look

The robots are cute and the idea is good, the poem is too random though....

This is really funny! I love the way the audience snap their fingers (are they humans, or just automated snap-bots?) And did you really write this whole thing purely in order to air the pun "open mech night"?

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks for trying it out! The world might never know if it was automated snapbots or not. haha.

I actually came up with the name pretty close to the game's completion, but like, if i did come up with the pun 1st would it be so wrong  ;p?

Cheers!

Haha, well either way it's the best title in the jam, and easily beats our game to the best pun award. :)

Crash on launch

Developer

It shouldn't. nobody else has reported that issue.  Make sure you unzip the contents before attempting to run the exe.

Otherwise, let me know what system you're running on so I can investigate! Sorry for the crash!

Hey! I just wanted to let you know that a video of one of my playthrough/reviews is up and you're a part of it!
Take a look here:

Wasn't really my cup of tea but I like what you were going for.

Poetry slam simulator... With Robots!

Great work, again.  This is pretty adorable.  I really like the random contemporary poem style.  Really made you think.  Super cute to boot.

Great job!

I can't take the screenshot :((( Where did it get saved?? I tried to take a screen shot with prt sc but get only a full black picture T_T. I've got mostly words that I don't understand, and Ive got one that I really liked about teen drinking crash blast but couldnt take the screen shot. Like Weaponized Walrus says, I rarely see repeated words, and I saw cheese cottage(?) that you once posted on the discord LMAO. The phonetic extraction seems very cool too, Idk if it was automated or random but I might take a look at that in near future. Overall very atmospheric, Im sure if you have more time to work on the poetry generation it could appear less random.

Developer

Pressing [S] takes a screen shot. The screenshots are saved in the ./screenshots directory. so like, on the same level as OpenMechNight.exe and the /assets directory.

I would love to improve the poem engine, maybe if I have some time!

Thanks for playing

Ah I see, I didnt unzip it that's why. Its still on my computer, could have another go ;D

A bizzare game, strangely addictive. Seems to be a huge number of different words, I rarely got the same one twice.

"droid humanoid
big act"

Deep...

Developer

I like this one.
He feels like his humanoid form is just an act. He's not human, He's a robot.
But he goes along with it, befriender.

I'm glad you enjoyed my game. Cheers!
