Cagebound is a Top Down 2D Puzzle Precision Shooting game.

This is my first time joining a game jam, and I'm making one of my first games ever. My idea is to create a game in line with the theme where the player is locked within a cage. His primary goal is to escape. He has a single bouncy ball that ricochets off the walls and he has to toggle all the switches in the room which will in turn release him from his cage. The idea is super simple but I'm trying to keep my scope small (As I've heard you should). (If you wanna know I'm using Godot. Hey that rhymes! :) )

Past 3 Days:

Finished:

Shootingo and Bouncing Ball Mechanic

Switch Mechanic

3 Simple Levels

Level Transitions

Audio for Ball (Kenney Impact Sounds) and some BG Music (playonloop.com)

Goals for the future:

More Levels (Hoping for maybe 30?)

More Sounds

Title Screene and LevelSelect? Possibly? I haven't really toyed around with Godot's UI System.

I cannot record a video currently, but here is a screenshot:

wow, that's a very well scoped game concept and so easily communicated in a single image. best of luck with the jam!

I've been making some levels and it is much harder than I expected. There are 7 now, so I may need to cut back on the "30 levels" idea. Maybe 20 is more manageable.  If not, then maybe I should cut back more and make it 15. I've also done some playtesting and I realized that this is less of a puzzle game and more of a precision game. It still feels fun nonetheless and I think that's a good sign. :)

That's all for this devlog.  Thanks for dropping by!
