I think I already know the answer to this, but I want to ask just in case to be sure.

Our idea has a mythological creature as one of the main protagonists. All it characteristics are based on the ones provided by the myths, but it's a fantasy setting with no relation to the ancient society the myth has roots.

Does it fit the theme for the jam?

Basically, as long as this character is significant enough in your project, and as long as the connection this character has to mythological creatures is apparent, it should be alright. Even with a fantasy setting, as long as the player can easily connect your project with mythology (in a broad meaning since there are many mythologies etc.) you should be fine! If that's not the case, perhaps not then.
